Life on the Base at North Field, Guam 1945
With the 314th BW(VH)

There's lots of material on the web about the operational aspects of B-29's these days. I thought it would be of interest to the offspring of our Eightyish crowd to hear how the air crews lived while on the ground. If this sounds a little like an interesting summer at Boy Scout Camp, remember that there were other moments while in the air of an entirely different nature that are not covered here. At the moment, the photos, recollections and opinions will be mostly mine alone, after 55 years in storage, but hopefully others will come forward with photos and their impressions, so that the final result will be reasonably accurate.
