Living With and Beyond Leiomyosarcoma
                                        and Other Cancers.
   If you are reading this, perhaps you or someone you know or love has been diagnosed with cancer.  Warm thoughts go out to you because it is the beginning of a most interesting adventure, one that is truly life altering.  You’ve heard this before.  But you are afraid.  Of course you are.  I certainly was.

     I am a  woman, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend.   Cancer is a part of my life story but certainly not all of it.
     I like to think my story is unique, yet it is by no means unusual.  There are millions of people out there who are dealing with cancer daily, many who have recovered fully, and many who have found wonderful energy and joyous involvement in life while living with it.  Advancements are amazing!  Everyday new discoveries bring us closer and closer to a cure.  It has been seven years since my diagnosis, I’ve experienced my share of treatments and scans, but here I sit—typing this and thanking God for the abundance in my life today!

        I most certainly did not welcome the cancer experience, but what I have learned and continue to learn from it has proven incredibly valuable.  Discoveries have been very practical and ordinary, and also profound.  I know what real joy is now…and every day is a gift.  I send you love…and I know your own journey will be one of the greatest teachers you will ever have.  Accept the challenge.  I believe in you!
   My book, The October Gate, explores the spiritual aspects of dealing with illness.  You can read more about it on www.theoctobergate.com.

I have been greatly inspired by this:

Let nothing disturb you,
     Nothing affright you,
     All things are passing,
     God never changes;
     Patient endurance
     Attains to all things;
     Those who have God
     Want for nothing;
     God alone suffices.
