I am a native of Albania and Albanian is my mother tongue. I live in Canada and I am in continuous daily contacts with the Albanian language, which has changed drastically during recent years, in line with latest developments of the entire Albanian society. I graduated the Faculty of Law in the University of Tirana in 2001 and I have a strong understanding of criminal, civil and administrative law terminology.
Target Language / Source Language - English
English was my preferred subject since high school; in January 2001 I took the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), scoring 670 points, out of a maximum of 677. In February 2003 I took the International English Language Testing System (EILTS), scoring 8.5 out of 9. In addition, I have worked for many years in an English speaking environment, prior to becoming a freelance translator. And now, I live in an English speaking country and I communicate daily with native speakers of the English language. I received my Master in Laws degree from the University of Alberta in 2005 and I have a strong understanding of investment, finance and trade terminology.
Areas of Specialization
My main areas of specialization are law, medicine and finance. However, I have performed various translations and interpreting in other fields, such as business (wireless phone marketing, software promotion, health care products), religion (church brochures) and electronics (TV, camera, household appliances) for Albanian, North American, Asian and European clients.
Confidentiality
Personal data and all information obtained in relation to or as a result of translation/interpreting assignments will be considered as strictly confidential; will not be disclosed to any third party and will be used solely for the purpose of carrying out my tasks as a translator or interpreter.
Translation Rates
Rates vary from USD $ 0.08 per word to USD $ 0.14 per word, depending on the content of the material for translation. There is a time constraint premium of 30% for rush jobs (delivery the same day of receipt of material) and a holiday premium of 50% for jobs on holidays or weekends.
Minimum charge - USD $ 25 (for translations up to 300 words).

Proofreading Rates
Rates vary from USD $ 0.04 per word to USD $ 0.07 per word. Material in the original language is required for proofreading. There is a time contraint premium of 35% for rush jobs (delivery the same day of receipt of material) and a holiday premium of 50% for jobs on holidays or weekends.
Minimum charge - USD $ 25 (for proofreading up to 500 words).

Interpreting Rates
Rates vary from USD $ 300 per day to USD $ 400 per day or USD $ 50 per hour.

Special Projects
My daily translation output is 2,500 words; my minimum proofreading output is 5,000 words. However, because of my strong partnership ties with fellow translators I am able to undertake special projects, which require exceptional technical skills on a very limited time.
Technical Capacities, Software and Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) Tools
PC running Windows XP Home Edition, Office 2007, Acrobat Reader 7, McAfee 2007 VirusScan, WinZip 8.0, Trados 6.5 Freelance and SDLX 2006, 24-hours broadband Internet and e-mail access. Translations can be delivered in hardcopy, floppy disk, CD-ROM or via e-mail, according to the preference of the client.
