The Dusty Trail Posse was born in the summer and fall of 1997 in southside Virginia . The Posse's first shoot was held on October 9, 1997 on a site in Chesterfield county. This property soon became the cowboy town of Lost River, New Mexico. The first match had seven shooters and seven spectators. The posse has grown to thirty members from all over Virginia with both men and women shooters.
Shoots are held on the second Saturday of the month, September thru June, with additional matches held on ocassion. The Posse championship is held on the second Saturday and following Sunday of October each year.
