Hello and welcome to my page.  My name is Jerrie Lynn Weatherford.  I was born in the great state of Tennessee in 1969 and moved to the Last Frontier of Alaska in 1979.  I have since come to call Alaska my home.

I am an avid fisherman, camper, hiker, quilter,
bowl maker and recently in 2003 have added the art of Square Dance Calling to my list.

As a child I had enjoyed watching the square dancers on the Grand Old Opry and the dancers who danced during the Disney Parades every year.  The smiles on the dancers faces and the joy that shown in the audience as they watched the dancers made me want to learn how to square dance.

I started dancing while in high school to
Gordy Oseth who was calling for the SnowShoe Shufflers in North Pole, Alaska in the early 1980's.  I danced for two years then took a break for a long while then came back to dancing in April of 2003.

I also picked up the microphone that month and started to learn the art of calling a dance from
Bill Mudd of the Prospector Squares in Fairbanks, Alaska.

     I have since attended
Silver State Caller College in Reno, NV in 2003, 2004 and will once again attend the college this year.  I have also gone through a course with Erwin West a disciple of Dick Ledger on Timing and the importance of it and graduated.   Each year with each school I attend I am trying to improve not only my calling but also my teaching techniques.

My hopes are to someday soon to be
teaching square dancing to the folks of this great state  and to see the families back out having a great time together.

Currently I keep busy teaching a
Youth Dance Camp during the month of June for youths 5-19.

If you are interested in a demo or would like your organization to hold a western dance night call on me.  Your guest can have fun line dancing, square dancing, as well as waltzing and two-stepping their night away to great music.
Currently I am President of our local club
