The Akhand Bharat Foundation is an organisation comprising of students and young professionals from all over the country and abroad working for a strong and resurgent India. The Foundation strives not so much for the physical extension of India's boundaries but rather to widen her intellecutal and ideological consciousness ('chetna').
From high technology to the creative arts, India is rapidly becoming a global player. India has clocked one of the world's highest economic growth rates in the world during the last decade to emerge as the world's fourth largest economy.
Yet, in todays "national" and global media, Indians are routinely portrayed through stereotypes of caste, poverty and superstition. Indians today have failed perhaps more than any other group to create a defence for their culture and civilisation and those who do dare to pick up the gauntlet are dismissed as communalists and fundamentalists.
This pioneering initiative by our foundation is to dispel these myths and is a call for an intellectual Kshatriya - a new class of warrior intellectuals to defend India and her great pluralistic traditions from the onslaught of exclusivist approaches, whether religious, economic or political. |
