HUMANITARIAN RELIEF WORK
The students at UCLA help those in our immediate community but never forget importance of sending external aid to our homeland, Afghanistan. Our agenda includes helping initiate (with ARO) a midwife training center/medical clinic in Afghanistan to reduce the world's highest infant mortality rate. We have established an ongoing medical supply drive to supply the clinic. Furthermore, to help the 1.5 million orphans of Afghanistan, we work with International Orphan Care (IOC) to raise funds to educate, cloth, and feed them. We also continually collect school supplies from those on and off campus to make education possible for those less fortunate in Afghanistan. Collected goods are securely delivered via the assistance of the reputable Afghanistan Relief Organization (ARO). The UCLA ASA welcomes the support of those who would like to further the cause lending assistance in their field of expertise.
AFGHANS AT UCLA
Afghan Students at UCLA promoting humanitarian relief projects as well as attempting to reshape the way Afghans are portrayed to the public resolving any misconceptions that may exist.
                     STUDENT MENTORING
Higher education is immensely important to one's success. The promotion of higher education, in our community, is one of the most important items on our agenda. We want to educate students of all grades and their parents about the various resources available to facilitate their ability to achieve higher education. We are currently seeking to join forces with high schools around the Los Angeles area in order to provide tutoring, mentoring and other services to the Afghan youth within our community.  We hope to provide help with college, scholarship, and financial aid applications through workshops and online relationships.
