There are two phases of my life: Rescue and post-Rescue. I was involved in dog rescue for seven years, and I recently decided that it just wasn't something I wanted to continue. Rescuers have different reasons for starting or stopping rescue, and for me it was a simple matter that I needed to spend some time on myself. Instead of trying to save the entire dog population of Sacramento, I needed to save myself. So, enough sentimental pop-psychology. After 11 years in and out of the veterinary field, I am now a cog in the great legal document industry (don't ask me to explain it, I barely understand it myself). It pays the rent, and in the meantime I get to attempt to start another career as a freelance journalist. Hey, it could happen! |

See above. For 7 years, dog rescue was mainly an obsession more than a hobby. Currently, I sporadically do Pilates/yoga, bike 2-5 miles daily (to work or just for the hell of it with my dog), swim when I get the chance, play softball in a local league, and spend WAY too much time online. I FINISHED MY BA IN ENGLISH ON 3/24/2004!!! Let's have a round of applause, please! I have been published in a small local paper, the Pet Gazette, and will hopefully soon be PAID to write...! |
