Greetings, my name is Derk Adams and there has been a serious lack of cockpits built for the large robot games. By large robot games I mean MechWarrior, Heavy Gear, and EarthSeige and StarSeige. Now, if you want to fly airplanes, helicopters, or drive cars, there are lots of resources (mainly because the things actually exist).
Working in a mechanical vacuum, I have decided to build a cockpit for my favorite series of Mecha games, Mechwarrior. Note: If you haven't played the original MechWarrior game, you missed out on the best one of the series. Yes, the graphics are pretty bad compared to today, but the play has yet to be duplicated.

BattleTech Simulator is comming along nicely and I have been provided hosting for the BTS site at www.virtualcommander.com. The pod is on permanent hold until the software is closer to completion.

After a couple hours of mourning, I decided to take stock of the situation and figure out how to move on. I reality, I knew that 3DRad would never cut it for what I wanted, but I had so much invested... well, not any more. Looking around with more experienced eyes, I have decided to move to the Torque game engine. A good outside environment engine, I will get the source code to be able to modify the engine itself, enabling me to tweak it to do exactly what I want. So here goes.

Catastrophic failure. I lost my hard drive and the only thing not backed up... you guessed it, the game. Eight months down the drain. Well, not really. I learned a lot.
30 March 2004
I have posted my second demo of BattleTech Simulator:3025 under Implementation/Software.

I have posted my first demo of BattleTech Simulator:3025 under Implementation/Software.

Yes, I am still alive. I was frustrated at the direction of the Mechwarrior games and realized that I was never going to get the data output from it to ever make a realistic simulator. Therefore, I am going back to the drawing board. I have purchased a license for 3DRad and I am going to program a simulator level game to then connect to the pod. The journey continues...
20 August 2001
False start, time, space, and resources are at a minimum. The pod is back in storage.
3 July 2001
Well, after over a year in storage, the pod is out, assembled, and ready to be improved.
6 December 2000
Hey, I just developed the film from the last five months. The enclosure section is ready for viewing. Now you can actually see the structure of the pod.

Just a note to let you know that I haven't forgotten the site. Getting married and moving to another state is taking most of my free time. It probably won't be until March-April 2001 that I can get back to the cockpit :(
1 August 2000
The selection and construction of the seat is finished (under Implementation). Still haven't developed the new rolls of film to post the pod construction.
19 May 2000
I have finally had time to put my links on the Resources Page. I am busy working on the pod, but the roll of film hasn't been finished yet, so the updates have to wait.
6 April 2000
Well, now that I am on my 7th (I think) version of my cockpit and it is pretty substantial, I have decided to contribute my endeavors to the net. If you have any questions or even better, suggestions, drop me a note at adamsderk@hotmail.com
