District Championship Tournament August 20-21st, 2005 Mississippi River Pool 12
The Eastern Iowa district of the American Bass Anglers held their District Championship for 2005 on pool 12 of the Mississippi River. The day was sunny and warm. Water temp was in the mid 70's and river conditions were muddy with moderate current. No pattern really devloped for anyone during the event. Most everyone agreed you just had to go out and cover water and try lots of different things. Most of the fish brought in were smallmouths but there were a good deal of largemouths as well. The majority were caught in the grass along main river channel but many were found on the wood in the backwater as well.
First place was claimed by Andy Christ of East Dubuque, IL with 8 fish weighing, 16.36lbs. Andy also claimed Big Bass for the tournament with a 3.02lbs Largemouth. He brought in a limit on day one but his bite slowed on day 2 and he brought in only 3 bass, but at the end of it all, he held off the field and took 1st place.
Andy also claimes Angler of the Year title for the district as his strong finish jumped him from 2nd to the top of that race. Congratulations to you Andy for a very consistant year!
Second place fell to Andy's Uncle, Todd Christ also of East Dubuque, IL with 4 fish weighing 9.12lbs, and Third went to Elliot Wamsley, of Elmhurst, IL with 4 fish at 8.29lbs.

Well, this ends out 2005 season for the district but we will be starting out 2006 season in a few weeks on September 10, 2005 on pool 11. I hope all of you will be returning and hope to see some new faces as well.
