Chrysler/PPG Pace Cars
Chrysler built many prototype Pace Cars for PPGs program.
Please note that I have very limited knowledge of these cars so I wouldn't take the information on this page as gospel.

1981
81 ppg
This PPG pace car was built on a Dodge O24 frame with mofidied body work, and a custom turbo 2.2 engine built by SVI.
It's engine featured a T03 turbo set at 8psi, custom tuned-runner intake, and was bolted to the stock 4speed transmission.

Inside the car it featured a custom guage cluster & Recaro seats.

1982

Unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, this car featured a body made of fiberglass with real "gullwing" doors on top of a regular Charger 2.2 frame. The car weighed in at 2,600lb and would do 0-60 in 7.8 seconds
SVI Turbo Engine
The engine produced 175 horsepower and had a Garrett/AiResearch turbo,  Audi Quattro intercooler, and a mechanical fuel injection system by Bosch (k-jetronic). Overall similar to the 1981 engine.
The fuel injection "brain" is the box at the lower right of the picture with the big air intake hose coming out of it. Also note the vacuum advance module on the distributor, and the PCV box moved to the opposite side of the valve cover.

1983
This year the PPG pace car was built on a Dodge Daytona frame.

It's engine was similar to the '82 model but set at 12psi of boost.

1984
The '83 Daytona Pace car's engine used some modified production 2.2 turbo parts.

SVI modified intake manifoldIt had a tubular exhaust header, 15psi boost, custom intake plenum attached to a modified Turbo I style intake manifold, 7.8:1 compression, Bosch L-jetronic fuel injection, VW electronic ignition and an intercooler. This motor produced 255hp @ 6250rpm and 235ft-lbs of torque at 4500

1985
SVI engines makes a 16valve, twin turbo version of the 2.2 that was supposed to produce 440 horsepower. It had a Cosworth designed DOHC head, cam mounted distributor, and massive amounts of exhaust tubing to feed the two Garret TO25 turbos set at 25psi.

I believe this car was used in the movie "The Wraith"
