With delightful anticipation, the sixty-six year old college professor pressed the power button. His new addition whirred to life and all of the other computers immediately began to respond. "That's right girls, it's time to meet your new baby sister." Now, I've been a regular at Hal's for a few years, but George is a relative newcomer. He fits right in though. As a bona fide geek, he kind of blends naturally into the mix of unusual characters that frequent the place. Mickey didn’t dare speak. He couldn’t bring himself to interrupt the transferal of emotions taking place from man to microphone. He’d never witnessed this kind of performance. This was more than blues; it was blues with teeth. No … razor blades.

“I am Captain Phineus Alexander Quinn! I demand an explanation of this intrusion! You humans will be punished for such behavior!” Quinn was surprised to see that they were not showing fear at his announcement. Instead, they just mumbled back and forth. The female was rooting through a bag she carried. The only thing that bothered her about Gil, was the way he would sometimes look at her. Every now and then, she'd notice him staring. His blue eyes somehow darker … almost black, and his expression a little scary, as if he was someone who wasn't supposed to be watching her. "Oh, yes! The Talbot is a marvelous old place! A bit scary, but just marvelous! It’s the oldest guest house in Richfield, I think." she seemed eager to tell me about it. "Now, I’d keep to the first two floors if I were you. I’ve never been down there, but I’ve heard stories about that dreaded basement…"

I leaned over to my friend, LaShawn, who was sitting in the rocker next to mine, and said, "Two bits says I can get the pretty lady to kiss me before midnight."
LaShawn lowered his People magazine and said, "Yo, word up. The only thang you gonna get is a slap in the face before midnight."
"James? James?"
"Yes, Alpha. Shoot."
"I think you are going to be very pleased with me."
"I know that tone of voice, Alph. Have you been creating again?"
"Relax, will you? You're giving me a headache."
"Yeah, I'll just relax ... I'll sit here and relax while life as we know it slowly slips away. Tick, tick, tock, tock, we're all doomed, so says the clock!"
"I'm shutting you out, Fizz! Lalalalala, Lalala..."

There are five police cruisers behind us. There used to be seven, but two didn't make that last corner. I didn't get to see exactly what happened to them, but at these speeds I suspect they damaged their vehicles. "Oh no you don’t!"
Finley fired her arrow at the lunging beast, nailing it squarely between the eyes. The 300 pound canine-like mutant slammed into the base of a large tree and fell to the ground.
The line was lengthy and the stalls were three.
The moments ticked by.
