Comics in era 1989 in Indonesia still dominated by the Americans comics, whose published by Marvel and DC Comics. But even those, sometimes there is still came out comics from domestic one or two pieces. Meanwhile although Japan comics not dominated as I remember there is one comics which is being like by Indonesian kids, It was Candy Candy. And in medium television program it was Doraemon in cartoon movie which played by RCTI. Also comic from Indonesian that known well by kids at that moments are Gundala the Thunder Sun, Panji Tengkorak and also there is a fairytale from India there were Mahabharata dan Ramayana.

In the beginning 1990, It was the moment that Japan comics will dominate Indonesian comic market, and the other side where Indonesian comic is in saturate. The present of Kung-fu Boy will much cause the change of Indonesian comic market.

It seems while I'm reading that comic there is a big spirit in its. Beside that there is also nuance of cities in China which have strong culture that seen in this comic. Takeshi Maekawa is a geniousman in describe of kung fu world. He can combine between entertainment side and the martial art side. Takeshi Maekawa made martial art of kung-fu as if something easy to understand, different in Indonesia that full with magic things in it such as Pencak Silat.

But one thing that made me to follow story line is the simplicity of kung-fu trik which played by Chinmi that it make sense even (if its true) easy into practise. As far I known, the creation of Takeshi Maekawa is only this Kung-fu Boy that boom in Indonesian comic market, even until now the New Kung-fu Boy are really wait by his loyal reader. Beside Kung-fu boy from Takeshi Maekawa, there is also a comics that pay attention of Indonesian teenage which is comics from Tony Wong, the title is Tiger Wong, the background story tells about the destruction of drugs organization in Thailand. It is true or not, it seem comics have it own world in every heart child in the world ........ even teenage ......... or even your self ?!
