This is the spot, 1.5 kilometers from the top, where Tom Simpson collapsed under a burning sun under influence of stimulants during the Tour de France 1967. Today he is still commemorated by thousands of cyclotourists who pass every summer on the Mont Ventoux. His daughter finished what he began and climbed the Mont Ventoux on bicycle in the summer of 1997.
