The Multiple Best In Show Winning
NZ Ch and Aust Ch Khinjan Stars'N Stripes (Imp UK)
Hello and welcome to this page about Standard Schnauzers

Amstar is well known around the world with our dogs in the USA, Canada and Australia and because of the dogs that we have imported to improve the breed in New Zealand. Amstar is proud to be associated with several of the world's leading Standard Schnauzer kennels who, like us, are dedicated to improving the breed.  We are committed to ensuring that our dogs have the correct temperaments, are sound and most of all that they excell in breed type.  Please bear with us, we spend our time with our dogs and not on the computer, so this may not be the flashiest website that you have ever seen.  However, if you ever meet them, you will see our dogs' temperaments speak for themselves.

Our dogs go back to Tamberg and Khinjan Kennels in the UK, the famous Yamada, Geistvoll, Katahdin, von Holz, Shanas and Stahlkrieger kennels in the USA, Wattsons kennels in Canada and to some of Australia's top Schnauzers Aust Ch Remporter Fiery Flare and Aust Ch Portora Fire Fox to name but two.

Not only have our dogs excelled in the showring, but they are successful obedience dogs too.

We have imported dogs from some of the world's top kennels including:
Am, Can and NZ Ch Wattsons Amstar Denzel (Imp Can),
the multiple Best In Show winning Aust & NZ Ch Khinjan Stars'N Stripes (Imp UK),
NZ Ch Tambergs Arrival to Amstar (Imp UK)
sired by England's top Schnauzer Eng & Ir Ch Geistvoll Othello at Tamberg (Imp USA),

the Best In Show Winning NZ Ch & Aust Ch Remporter Starsn Hereyes (Imp Aust),
Aust Ch and NZ Ch Remporter Stars N'Fancies (Imp Aust),
NZ Ch Awun Mr Millionaire (Imp Aust),

NEW ZEALAND'S TOP SCHNAUZERS INCLUDE
THE BEST IN SHOW WINNERS

NZ Ch and Aust Ch Khinjan Stars'N Stripes (Imp UK) "Fozzter"

Already a mutliple best in Show winner in Australia when he arrived in Auckland, Fozzter really made an immediate impact in New Zealand with Runner Up Best in Group only days after landing from Australia. He quickly built upon that win to became a Pedigree Awards winner and was New Zealand's top Schnauzer in 2001. His passing was a loss for the breed on both sides of the Tasman.

His son "Orion" NZ Ch Amstar Avalanche followed his father by beating him to top spot and becoming New Zealand's top
Schnauzer and was also a Best In Show winner.

NZ Ch Amstar Avalanche ("Orion")

NZ Ch Amstar Avalanche who is by Aust & NZ Ch Khinjan Stars'N Stripes (Imp UK) from NZ Ch Tambergs Arrival to Amstar (Imp UK). He was undefeated at Best of Breed level all the way to his championship and has gone on to take Best In Show and Runner Up best in Show awards in Auckland. He was particularly loved by visiting overseas judges!  On the way he gained many Best Baby Puppy and Best Puppy in Show and in Group awards at Championship and Open Shows.

SOME OF THE AMSTAR HISTORY

Orion qualified for the Pedigree Premier Puppy of the Year contest in 2002 by taking numerous Best in Show, Puppy in Show and Best in Group awards. His first show in 2003 delivered NZ Bred in Group and NZ Bred in Show - since then he has been lightly shown while we give the girls (Sophie and Yvette) a chance. Sophie is also a Best in Show and Best in Group winner and is providing the real competition for Orion, Buck and Yvette in New Zealand. Buck has taken high placements in the Puppy Sweepstakes competition during 2002 and has been gaining his fair share of group placements as well.

We also recognise some of our major wins and top winners of recent years as well. "Felicia" (Aust Ch and NZ Ch Amstar Maid O'Means) is the only New Zealand bred Schnauzer to win Best of Breed at a major Australian Royal Show - the Adelaide Royal. Adelaide is the most prestigious of the Australian Royals for the Schnauzers with the most successful Australian kennels all based in Adelaide and with it always drawing a strong interstate contingent.

The 2000 Adelaide Royal was a real family affair. Under Uruguayan breed specialist, Mr Jorge Nallem, Aust Ch Amstar Maid O'Means (Imp NZ) was Best of Breed from an entry of 42. Her "cousin" Aust Ch Remporter Star Cruiser was Runner Up Best of Breed, her grand-sire Aust Ch Khinjan Stars'N Stripes (Imp UK) was Reserve Dog and her "niece" Aust Ch Remporter Take Noprsnrs was Reserve Bitch. Aust Ch Amstar Poetic Justice won the Intermediate Dog Class at the 2003 Adelaide Royal under another South American judge.

The 2000 Royal Adelaide success was a follow up from the 2000 South Australian Schnauzer Specialty where Felicia was Challenge Bitch under Mexican Schnauzer specialist, Dr F Chappa. Again it was an all family affair as Best in Show from an entry of 69 was Aust Grand Ch Remporter Revel in Glory with Aust Ch Remporter Star Cruiser Runner Up in Show over the Miniatures and the Giants. Again, in 2003 Aust Ch Poetic Justice won the Intermediate Dog Class with Aust Ch Remporter Star Cruiser again Best In Show, another family affair.

Both Felicia and Callum were shown at the 1999 Schnauzer Club of South Australia Champ Show under internationally acclaimed Giant Schnauzer breeder, Ms Sylvia Hammarstrom (USA). Callum won the Intermediate Dog Class and was Intermediate of Breed. Felicia was second in Intermediate Bitch and won the Reserve Challenge. Their little brother, Amstar Fancy SilvaFox was first in Minor Puppy Dog and Minor of Breed. One other New Zealand bred dog was shown (Doenitz UK Impact) she finished second of two in her class, Junior Bitch. A strong showing all round though for the New Zealand bred Schnauzers.

Best in Show, again, was the cousin of our dogs Aust Ch Remporter Star Cruiser making 1999 a family affair as well.

Also in 1999, Aust CH Amstar Maid O'Means (Imp NZ) was Runner UP Best of Breed and Intermediate in Show at the Schnauzer Club of South Australia Open Show, Amstar Fancy Silva Fox (Imp NZ) was Minor in Show while Aust Ch Amstar Man O'Means (Imp NZ) was Runner Up Best Schnauzer Male.

We have imported one of the top winning Standard Schnauzers in the history of the breed in Australia, Aust & NZ Ch Khinjan Stars'N Stripes (Imp UK) Fozzter, he is the sire of world famous Schnauzers such as Aust Ch Remporter Star Cruiser, Am Ch Remporter A Starfyr Fox, Am Ch Remporter Starman CGC and Am Ch Remporter Star At Always (the #9 Standard in the USA in 1999). Fozzter started his New Zealand career with Runner Up Best Exhibit in Group at the Ladies Kennel Club championship show in Auckland on 22 October 2000 and followed up with a second Runner Up in Group under Canadian Judge, Ms Flora McKenzie three weeks later in Taupo. The following weekend Stella gained her New Zealand Championship.

This grand success  continued with Fozzter continually winning against the strongest competition New Zealand could muster under international judges. He was ably supported by his daughter NZ Ch Remporter I Amstar Gazer (Imp Aust) and his half sister NZ Ch Tambergs Arrival At Amstar (Imp UK) and then by a string of top Schnauzers including NZ Ch Amstar Avalanche "Orion", NZ Ch, Can Ch and Am Ch Remporter Amstar OutfoxU "Roxy", NZ Ch Remporter Strikes Back "Yvette" and NZ Ch Amstar Poetry in Motion "Sophie".  And most recently by Denzel and Aline.
