~~PRAYER FOR THE BRIDE AND GROOM~~

Our Father and Our God

We come today asking Your blessing upon these two precious lives which stand before you today and upon their home that is being built up and established on Your firm and sure foundation. You have made us so that we are incomplete one without the other and so that we would yearn for someone we can love and whose love we can receive and return.

Father, we are just so thankful you have created us male and female, bone of bone and flesh of flesh together one and altogether free to enter into such a righteous commitment. We are thankful for the love we see here and, even more, for the love that we can feel from You. May we never take Your love for granted. We pray that Your love will be and remain the complete shield and stay for this couple. We pray that when joy comes, that they will share it together. In times of gladness or in tears, in sunshine or in shadow, may they ever draw closer to each other, and even nearer to You.

"Whom God has joined together, let no man [woman, boy, girl, anything] put assunder."

O God, grant them patience, gentleness, forbearance, and understanding. Protect their home from all of those forces which would seek to break it apart. We ask for health, for long life, for fulfillment of their every good dream. And may their love continue through life's ups and downs and finally comes to blend into the life eternal in the heavens with You. Keep them, Lord, we pray, in Your own perfect love and by Your mercy and grace. For it is through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray. Amen.
