Introducing: TeleFlash
The TeleFlash tactic was introduced by Dr. Distaster some time ago. Some people found it an extremely useful tactic to have at their disposal and some even put it on their website. Among these, Charis, Ice and King of Pain have secured a safe home for this work in its original form. Follow the links on their sites to see the original DSF post in all its glory.

What really is Flash?
Flash is a spell of the magic type. The other types are fire and lightning.
All spells work better as they get higher in spell level, either through the addition of reading more books or through the use of spell adding items or through touching an Enchanted Shrine.
How does it work?
A player would have to have the Flash spell selected and then simply righ-click their mouse. No need to target the spell. It affects the eight game-squares around the player, though the damage dealt to three of these eight squares is much lower than the other five (more on this later).
What else is needed for the TeleFlash Tactic?
In essence, only the Flash spell is needed, but having at least one monster which is not magic immune. In addition, the Stone Curse and Teleport spells will come in very handy against monster types that will try to keep some distance between the player and themselves.
Could you tell me more about the mechanics of Flash?
Certainly. Just look at the animated gif below to your left. Here you see a Rogue being circled by a lone Steel Lord. The Steel Lord shows all possible gametiles around the Rogue in sequence. However, there are three gametiles of particular note. The ones I'm talking about are to be found in the animated gif below to your right.

Have you got any other tangible evidence of this?
I sure have. Just for this question I have decided that for once I should allow my Rogue to be completely surrounded by Steel Lords. Then cast a single Flash. And look at the results!

So, in essence, that's all I need to know?
In essence, yes.
Okay, I'll bite, what else is there?
I mentioned the use of the Stone Curse and Teleport spell. These are used on the various types of monsters which will succomb to Flash (magic type), but which won't stand on any of the eight gametiles surrounding the player.
The best way to demonstrate will be with another small series of screenshots and a small icon about the spell used.

Okay, got it, can I go now?
Actually, no. I have to tell you about a small caveat regarding the Teleport spell. When most people Teleport ala Bolty's Telekill strategy for melee fighters, they end up in one of the wrong spots to cast Flash. If you do Teleport to your target, make sure you Teleport behind it, not in front of it as in the next pic:
