Pictures of the 1984 championship for Swordquest: Fireworld (by Atari)
The championships were held in January of 1984 at Atari headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA. Here is evidence that it isn't worthless to check out that thrift store a little more closely... Reader Clive Young of NY found these pictures in a shoebox of old Atari games -- pictures from the Swordquest: Fireworld competition back in 1984! the contestants playing the game (note the arrangements of the game boxes on the wall as decoration), the winner Michael S. Rideout of Aiken, SC receiving his prize, a closeup of the Fireworld prize, the chalice (sadly with the flash from the camera obscuring detail a bit), Here's proof that the Sword, the final prize in the Swordquest contest series, was actually made.
