Title Battle Reports
Introduction Hi everybody!

This is my webpage for TCS and SCS-style wargames. If you don't know what I am talking about I recommend visiting the website of Multi-Man Publishing. This is the company which produces these great games. Along you will find a complete product list, mailing list archive and support for their games.

I have always loved to read battle reports and when I saw Lee Forester's job on his PBEM version of GD'40 I could not resist to plague the internet community with a description of my fairings. Here you can find battle reports of Objective: Schmidt, Stalingrad Pocket II and A Raging Storm.
Inspired by the style of Lee Forester I created maps of the terrain and provided a very brief description of the action.

If you have questions, comments or tips you can reach me at spiegelstern(at)yahoo(dot)com

As of today the page is on indefinate hiatus as I no longer have the time to play these massive games. But I hope the reports will inspire other young aspiring commanders to do the same as I still love to read how you fared in Schmidt or Campoleone.

Contents Objective: Schmidt - TCS Battle report: Objective: Schmidt was played with the 3.1 version of the TCS-rules. Additionally we made the following changes to the special rules:
  • The supply rules were completely scrapped.
  • Slow Go Terrain is impassable to vehicles.
  • Air Sorties are resolved with 3.1 version rules i.e. no AA-ratings, but each P-47 attacks with a firepower of 16 (6 vs. Point). There is no strafing or the rocket volley option.
  • MG-sections and mortar units count for victory level determination.
Stalingrad Pocket II - SCS Battle report:
  • After three turns I decided against doing full-blown battle reports for SCS-games. The game itself is too static to do an exciting "play-by-play" and the flow of events is very much dictated by the initial setup without the flexibility to shift much.
Nonetheless here is a short summary of the action.
A Raging Storm - TCS Battle report:

Options & House Rules:

  • The german commander took both optional troops (the railway guns & the Ferdinand tanks) for the fun of using BIG guns, while the british commander declined his options (the US parachute company & the naval gun support).
  • We used the GD'41 special rule that engineer infantry platoons may shift 2 columns to the left on the area fire table when attempting to clear mines.
  • Another house rule we made up during the game: When a unit moves into a hex containing a crest hexside (thus entering the LOS of enemy units lurking on the other side of the crest) it does not generate an overwatch trigger (for units on the other side of and not adjacent to the crest), since the entry hexside lies 125 yards behind the crest.
