As editor of ROCKET, a national bi-monthly with a 6-figure circulation, he ran a piece on the band to help promote their new beginnings at Chrysalis, and when they played the Palladium he ran some shots he took of the guys backstage.
At the same time that Procol "retired," rather than deal with disco and hairstyles that looked like seagulls, Ron also moved from rock as a career to other interests.
He's probably best known for his source-authority books on comedy (see: www.ronaldlsmith.com) although he has written on other subjects, ranging from Edgar Allan Poe to the "Sweethearts of 60's TV," which, how lucky for him, includes some of his friends.
When the Net began, Ron used Geocities to host websites for some of his celeb pals. Ron's site for Mort Sahl was eventually simultaneous at Geocities and at www.mortsahl.com. When Mort's wife showed an interest in the Internet (and who better to supply up to the minute news!) mortsahl.com was turned into the news/itinerary site, and the Geocities page became the "library." You're at the archive site now, www.geocities.com/mortsahl aka
