** THE ULTIMATE

CAPTAIN CANUCK
** TRIBUTE PAGE **
APPARENTLY...geocities will be shutting down their free web-hosting service (I think sometime in October is the final deadline). So that basically means I can either move this site to a paid site (um, where I pay, not you, dear visitor) or simply say, "So long and thanks for the fish", shut it down, walk away and get another hobby. I'm currently on the fence. On one hand, maybe I should just let it go, maintaining these websites maybe being too much of an excuse to not do more important things. On the other hand, it has been fun, I am a narcissist and enjoy a plarform for expressing myself and, yes, believe it or not, I do get e-mails from people saying how they like my site(s). Anyway, I haven't decided yet. Just thought I'd post this for people who visit this site and let you know that if I move the site to another domain name, I'll let ya know.
Welcome to the future
that never was...and the hero who called it home.
"Wait'll I tell my wife and
kids, -- Captain Canuck, right here in my cab!"
"...killing (Captain Canuck)
will make me an underworld superstar."
Who is Captain Canuck,
you ask? Captain Canuck was a Canadian comic book published
in the mid-'70s and the early '80s. A mixture of superhero, James
Bond-like espionage, and science fiction, the series was about a costumed hero/government
agent who battled evil throughout Canada, the world, and beyond, in what
was then the future (the 1990s). Not the most successful of comic
books, it's true, but the character has achieved a certain cult status,
with an audience recognition that outstrips the short run -- including outside Canada, such as in the U.S. In 1993,
the character had a short-lived relaunch, changing everything but the costume, and once again in 2004; there's info about them on this site, too (primarily in the "Other Captains" page), but this web page is primarily devoted
to the one,
the original, CAPTAIN CANUCK.
With that being said, there seems to be a lot of activity, and rumoured activity, involving the various versions of the character, including the original, these days and in the months to come. So I'll try and keep this site up to date in that regard (for now, keep an eye on my "Other Captains" page for news).
This site was created and is maintained by writer and pop commentator
D.K. Latta (for more about him, go HERE).
What are you're old Captain Canuck comics worth these days? That question seems to come up a lot. Click here for my page about the value of old comics. |
