DESCRIPTIONS:
------------
Diagonal Mirror --
Creates a reflection along a diagonal axis of an image. Sliders control position of diagonal axis and selection of upper-or-lower/left-or-right source. Undefined areas wrap around.
Horizontal Mirror --
Creates a reflection along a horizontal axis of an image. Sliders control position of horizonal axis and strength of left/right source. Undefined areas are remirrored, creating a "ping-pong" effect.
Vertical Mirror --
Same as Horizontal Mirror, except along a vertical axis.
Inversion Mirror --
Reduces the source to 1/4 the original size, mirrors the reduced copy around the center of the image, then inverts the polar position of each pixel. Sliders control amount of zoom, horizontal axis of effect, and vertical axis of effect.
Polar Pinwheel --
Converts the source to polar coordinates and spins the resulting values around the center of the image. Sliders control number of repetitions, rotation of image, and amount of zoom.
Quick Bevel --
Creates a quick beveled effect. Sliders control depth of beveling, individual shading of each bevel-side, and tint of bevel.
Horizontal Crossfade --
Concurrently fades left-to-right and right-to-left pixels from 100% to 0% intensity. Sliders control individual intensity strength of each half's fade-effect.
Vertical Crossfade --
Same as Horizontal Crossfade, except fading occurs top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top.
QuickTile One --
Converts the source into a seamless tile by reducing the source and spinning it around the center of the image. Sliders control zoom of source, and horizontal/vertical scaling. Undefined areas are remirrored.
QuickTile Two --
Converts the source into a seamless tile by spinning a selected quadrant of the image about the center. Sliders control selection of horizonal/vertical origins and scales.
WELCOME
Thank you for trying out the Beveled Edge-blender filter for Photoshop!
DESCRIPTION
The Beveled Edge-blender is a tool for aiding in the creation of seamless tiles. If you have no idea what a seamless tile is, then you probably won't have much use for this filter. If, on the other hand, you yearn to create your own seamless tiles for that cool Web page background you've been working on or need a quick imagemap to wrap around your computer graphics model, then this filter will make life a lot easier for you.
FUNCTION
Several methods exist for creating seamless tiles - the quickest, cleanest, and easiest being some form of reflecting a source image. The TruFilters package contains several filters that do just that and more. If you're really into seamless tiles, I highly recommend you get a copy (hint hint).
The Beveled Edge-blender takes a slightly different approach however. Instead of simply reflecting some portion of a source image, it gently fades the mirror-image of the opposing sides of a selection into the original image, thus creating the illusion of an overlap. When tiled, the edges softly "blend" out and into each other. Please accept my apologies if this description is unclear. Once you see the filter in action, you'll understand.
This filter has only been tested on systems with 16 megs of RAM or more.
FINAL WORD
Enjoy.
