Conserve Our Clemmys
The 'Clemmys' list, unlike the more general turtle lists, is dedicated to the specific natural history,
conservation, and captive husbandry of the four species of turtles that traditionally comprise this genus: the North
American Wood Turtle (Glyptemys insculpta), the Spotted Pond Turtle (Clemmys guttata), the Western Pond
Turtle (Actinemys marmorata), and the federally endangered Muhlenberg's or Bog Turtle (Glyptemys
muhlenbergii). This mailing list has been developed to facilitate the sharing of valuable experiences and
techniques which have helped to further our knowledge and understanding of the critical issues affecting the
husbandry and conservation of the traditional 'Clemmys' and their habitat. Members of this list who actively study wild populations of 'Clemmys' are urged not devulge specific locality data so if that's what you're looking for, don't bother joining. Captive breeding is our first step in the battle to halt the ruthless pillaging of wild populations of these very popular species of turtles. With that said, I invite those who have a sincere passion for 'Clemmys,' both experts and beginners alike, to join the
'Clemmys' List and share in the wealth of knowledge which I'm confident will abound as it grows.

If you haven't been able to guess by now, the only television I watch consists of The Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. One of my favorite programs, The Crocodile Hunter, is quickly becoming one of the most popular documentary series of its kind.
