History of Wingtchun
The History of martial Arts dates back some 400 yrs to the legendary Buddhist nun called Ng Mui. Inspired by a crane fighting with a snake, she originated a new style which become know as Wingtchun from the name of the young woman who was her student. Yim Wing Chun first passed techniques onto her husband and later he taught other people. The style gained its greatest of followers in Fushan, a town in the south of China. This art became Highly respected and produced Masters with great ability. One of these was the late Grand Master Yip Man who tought the late Kung Fu star Bruce Lee !!
Master Smart and the P.A.W.T.O.
Master Smart started his Martial Arts training at the age of 13 with some other styles, before joining a Wing Chun group in the North of England. He states, "A friend of mine, with whom I used to trace-walk introduced it to me.He had left the other styles, and in our backyard sparring, I found out the had improved. I felt disadvantaged and I felt I needed to learn Wing Chun to compare with him". Master Smart then dedicated himself to this martial art, earning Master status.
A message from Master Smart to all Wingtchun students " Learn your Basics well, but remember they are to serve you. You are not to serve them. "
