XLR8 are the current Australian Champions in 8-way
Formation Skydiving. They first formed in 1997 and competed in the World Air Games at Ephesus, Turkey.
They finished 5th, out of a 13 strong field. A great result in their first world class competition!
They recently competed in the World Skydiving Championships at Corowa, Australia. They set a new Australian record of 20 points in time, and gained 4th place. This making them the best 'non-professional' team in the world!

XLR8 train with Ramblers Parachute Center, at Toogoolawah out of the Cessna Caravan. They train on and off in solid blocks, completing around ten jumps a day. A TV mounted in the Caravan eables them to save time by debriefing on the way to altitude.

XLR8 are not competing at the
1999-2000 Nationals, but will compete again next year.

On Saturday the 30th of September half of XLR8, the 4-way team Redline, leave for Deland Florida. Redline competed at the World Cup of Formation Skydiving a few years ago and finished 14th, and are ranked 2nd in Australia.

The team, consisting of Jason Cooke,
Jeremy Hunt, Dom Padden, and
Paul McMullan, are going to be coached by Pete Alum. Pete is a member of the British team 'Sebastian XL'.
Sebastian XL are the British champions and are ranked 4th in the world.

Redline plan to do 150 training jumps in Deland and clock up about 6 hours in the wind tunnel.

When they return home they will head to Western Australia for a solid training camp before the Aussie Nationals at Christmas time.

XLR8 8-way will regroup for the nationals and compete in both the 4 and 8-way events.
