Oh, I'm so excited.
My very own page on the web
I asked her to find me a border
and she said this was
as close as she could get. I don't know,
I think I'm more svelt and sleek.
Of course she calls me a crusty, lumpy,
mean old cat. What would she know.
Has she looked in a mirror lately?
Just because I stalk around, stiff legged
naturally. What can one expect at
my age. I turned eighteen the end
of August. We both made it into the
21st Century. I help her a lot with these pages.
It gives me something to do
besides sleep. I don't get around like I used too.
We have a new cat, Puffer.*sigh*
He didn't have a home though so I guess it's all right.
On with my story.

My Favorite Story

Kittens in tree

The fox was boasting to the cat of his
clever devices for escaping his enemies.
"I have a whole bag of tricks which
contains 100 ways of escaping my enemies,"
he said. "I have only one," said the cat,
"but I can generally manage with that."
Just at that moment they heard the cry
of a pack of hounds coming towards them,
and the cat immediately scampered
up a tree and hid herself in its branches.
"This is my plan," said the cat.
"What are you going to do?"
The fox thought and thought as he looked
in his bag of tricks, and while
he was debating the hounds came nearer
and nearer. At last the fox in his
confusion was caught by the hounds
and soon killed by the huntsmen.
Miss Puss, who had been looking on,
said: "Better one safe way than 100
on which you can not reckon."

My Favorite Poem

Stray Cat
~ By Francis Witham ~

Oh, what unhappy twist of fate
Has brought you homeless to my gate?
The gate where once another stood
To beg for shelter, warmth and food
For from that day I ceased to be
The master of my destiny.

While he, with purr and velvet paw,
Became within my house the law.
He scratched the furniture and shed
And claimed the middle of my bed.

He ruled in arrogance and pride
And broke my heart the day he died.
So if you really think, oh Cat,
I'd willingly relive all that
Because you come forlorn and thin
Well........ don't just stand there........
Come on in!!

I Found a Home

My Life Saga-Part 1

The first thing I really remember is being
tossed out of a car onto a
hard surface. It was really scary
because I had never been anywhere
like it and I was all alone.
I wondered around in this
forest until I came to a place with
buildings and there were some humans
around. I stayed away from them because I
didn't want to be tossed out again. There were
other cats there too but they weren't
real friendly. I learned to stay out of
their way fast enough. I found a
corner in what I heard called a barn and slept
on some dried grass the cows ate later.
The humans fed us every day and it
wasn't a bad place to be, just lonely.
One day this woman with a young boy
came to the farm to see the animals.
I felt a connection with
her so I followed them all around
the farm. She tried to pet me a couple
of times and I finally let her.
But then they left and I went back
to my niche in the barn.
We had all heard the humans talking
about a lab and that they
were going to send us there the next
day.This lab,whatever that is,
would be doing tests on cats eyes.
It sounded terrible so I hid
the next day.
The woman found me and said she had lost
a cat just like me and would I please
come home with her. She scared me
though because she threw a jacket over
me and wrapped me up real tight and
carried me in the car back to her
sister's house where I was put
into what humans call a cat carrier.
I call it a torture chamber.
There was a man with her that kept
asking "why his jacket?". I did have an
accident in it because I was so scared.
The man, woman, and boy put me in a
car with them and we went on a long and
I mean long trip. They said we
were going to Virginia.
I howled all the way to Columbus
to show my displeasure but when
the boy yelled "throw that cat out
the window" I shut up and didn't let out
another peep.
The woman became my Mom,the man, my Dad,
and the boy Curtis,my brother.
It was a long time before I saw my Mom's
sister, my Aunt Jan again.

Colonial Beach, Va.-Part 2

It was very late at night and very
dark when we arrived at this place called
Virginia.It was very confusing because
there were three dogs and one cat.
I didn't find out about Daffy the duck
or Cotton the rabbit until the next day.
The three dogs, Thor, Blitz, and Pups
were leaping around and making a terrible
racket. Pan the cat just sat there waiting.
My Mom introduced us all. The dogs were
friendly but Pan just sat there
waiting. I got to explore the house
and then we all went to bed. Everyone
but Curtis and Pan crowded into
one bedroom. I looked around
and there was Pan sitting there waiting.
I yelled "What are you waiting for?"but
he just turned away and went in
with Curtis. We became in time
very very close. He was such a
nice and calm cat.
The next day I met the duck and
the rabbit and this thing called Herbie
that looked like a mouse to me but Mom
said was a hamster. He rolled around the
house most of the day in a
see-thru ball. He'd roll right into us and
get stuck underneath if we
didn't move fast enough. We all
had to get along. No picking or
fighting allowed and we did
get along. I remember many
nights curling up with Blitz
or Thor in front of the fireplace.
The second day I was there was not
a good day. My Mom took me to a
"Vet" and he poked and stuck me
with a sharp thing and then told my
Mom "Wild or not this is a mean
nasty cat". They made an appointment
for me for the next week to neuter
me, whatever that meant. I found
out later though. That night
she was cooking something that
smelled so good. They called
it a roast chicken and I wanted some.
Not knowing any better,I helped myself.
My Dad had a leg and thigh and
was just going to take a bite
when I leaped through the air and
took it and ran. He chased
me upstairs but I got in a corner
he couldn't reach and he only
got the leg back.I kept the thigh!
He was yelling at my mom
"You've got to teach that cat some
manners".Curtis and Mom were rolling.
She made him give me back the leg.
The day before I was to go back
to the vet,I had two kittens
but only one survived.
Mom named him Junior Britches. The vet said
he'd never missed a pregnant cat
before.They rescheduled my appointment.
Before long Winkie came along.
Someone left the little kitten in the dog
barrel because it was raining.
So Junior Britches had a friend.
It was a wonderful time.
Mom and Curtis went fishing a lot
so we had fresh bluefish and
when they went crabbing we had fresh
crab meat.
One day Mom told us we were all
going back to Ohio but without
Daffy, Cotton, and Dad.They rented
a special van for all of us.
Oh Good Grief! We were making that
long trip again!

Back to Ohio - Part 3

The first year back in Ohio was not
a good year for the humans.
Curtis had a bad time but that's
his story. Mom had to work and things
got rough for them. Then in January of '86
Curtis went away and everything changed.
Our Mom was always depressed and sad,
and we moved to an apartment. It took
a lot of work and tears but finally there
was only Pan and me left. The rest
of that year we had to comfort our
Mom a lot. There was one thing
that happened that Mom thought was
funny. I didn't but at least she laughed.
I have always slept in her bed
and this one night she was very restless
so when she turned over I
scatched her. She sat right up, leaned
over and bit me on the back.
Then she woke up and spit cat hair
for the next 3 days. It didn't hurt
but I haven't scratched her since
when she's sleeping. I stay
by her head now.
Pan got very sick and went to
the Rainbow Bridge in '91. I was
alone except for a short time
with Cali and some stupid birds.
Not long after we moved into this
house Pandora arrived. She was so scared.
I tried to tell her she was home for good
but she hid for a while.
Well, that's it. We have a quiet and
peaceful life. Mom and I have
both slowed down. It's time for my
nap. Please come back again soon.
P.S. We now have another
rather pesky stray, Puffer.
I've had to show him who's boss.
