I am a very big believer in the idea that you get out what you put into school. However, not all of us have the abilities that a school typically tests for.
One of my goals this year is to help each of you develop an idea of what things you are good at in school--not just classes or Lunch, but rather skills like: peforming labs, writing papers, presenting information, or playing lacrosse.
Each of these things requires a skill, and it should be our goal, together, to figure out your skills and how they can best be applied in class.
The last thing I want is for your first high school experience to feel like a six hour prison from which you cannot escape. Hopefully we'll be able to find ways that make you feel confident, successful and able to contribute in class. |
