GSX 1100 G Rally This page was created on 08 Mar 2003 and last updated on 13 Apr 2007
2003: Two great G Rallies within a month! 2003 has been a great motorcycling year for me. Would you believe having the opportunity to participate in not one, but two GSX1100G rallies, in two different continents! It was a fantastic time meeting great guys in great places.
Both events were great yet different, so it is very difficult to say which was the better of the two. Riding the challenging Deals Gap pumped my adrenaline up so high, that the thrill is addictive. On the other hand, Harz offered a glimpse of the love and dedication of the European G-men for the humble GSX1100G, and the vast variations in customisations that each owner has put in. If I had to choose between coming back for one rally or the other, it would be a very difficult choice to make indeed. Click on the links above to read more about each event. How did it come together? There was a conference in Washington D.C. that I had to attend as part of my job. I had already planned to take a break to participate in the G Rally in Deals Gap. The usual route Singapore-Washington I flew was the one via Frankfurt with Lufthansa. I had planned to take some time off to visit my friends in Germany on my way back home. Later I found out about the German Rally, and then I figured that if I could stretch my time in Germany a bit more, and work out the logistics of getting a motorcycle in Germany, I'd be able to take part in the German G-Treffen too. And that was how this crazy guy from Asia managed to participate in two GSX1100G rallies in the American and European continents. And for this, one has to be prepared to put up with the distances involved... really have an iron butt (deutsch: eisen Arsche):
