Further Information The legacy of Bigfoot started back in 1974 when Bob Chandler started fooling around with his Ford F-250 pickup, already modified with oversized tires and a built-up suspension. He was curious about whether he could drive it over a couple of old junk cars he had parked in a corn field. Turns out he could and the idea was born to put on exhibitions and to furthur modify his truck. Time has passed and Bigfoot has turned into a hightech wonder and yes, it still jumps junkers, or actually flies right over them in tight curcuit racing with other monster trucks. No longer based on stock Ford components, Bigfoot 10 is composed of a complete tubular frame system which incorporates a roll cage for the driver and a center mounted trailing arm suspension system supported by patented mono shock hydrolic struts. Power is supplied by a Ford 460 SVO block engine punched out to a whopping 572 cubic inches. Sitting on top of his mighty motor is a belt driven supercharger and a unique fuel injection system packing the huge cylinders full of a compressed air/fuel mixture. When this mixture is "lit off" by the high energy ignition system, the sound travels down special tuned headers making the rafters ring and the ground tremble. Mounted amid-ship, the engine actually sits just behind the center mounted driver. And when the driver is not looking through the windshield to see where he is going, he is looking through the floor! A special clear floor panel and toeboard were developed for Bigfoot 10 so the driver could have a clear downward view of the junk cars and race surface while Bigfoot 10 is airborne. This makes for better landing when gravity takes over. Even the cab and bed are special. No longer made of stamped metal, both the cab and bed are of fiberglass for lightness and ease of disassembly, they slip right over the massive tube-frame race truck. And yes, Bigfoot 10 still incorperates four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering, maneuvering like no stock pickup ever could.* Skill 2 Paint - Sapphire Blue Metal Flake, Steel, Aluminium, Dull Coat, Gloss Black, Flat Black, Semi-Gloss White, Gloss Red, Flat Blue, Dark Flat Gray, Silver, Gold, Dark Green *AMT (ERTL) My thoughts on this model: This model was really fun to put together, maybe this was because it was so different, not your usual car or truck model. The finished product came out great for me even though it was my first time putting on lots of decals that need precise placement.
