Information on my Datto

My 1970 green Datsun 1200 (B110) has been through quite a bit of torture. It all began life as a 1200cc automatic with a neckbreaking 69 horsepower. I selected an automatic tranny model with a big transmission tunnel, with view to transplant an import engine in to give it some more grunt. As the picture link from the first page shows, the selected engine was a CA18DE twin cam/16 valve NO turbo version was deemed suitable to a 21 year old with tire shredding tendancies. Below I will list modifications from front of car to rear.

• Toyota Corolla SX radiator.
• All sorts of hoses and crap from all kinds of cars for radiator and intake.
• Tokico Gold shocks all round.
• 200B struts, modified to hold 1200 springs, also struts made adjustable to allow for height adjustment.
• Stanza lower arms, 1 inch shortened Stanza castor rods.
• 14 x 5.5(185) Skyline 1989 model wheels (back wheels modified 14 x 7.0(205)).
• CA18DET intercooled -ex 1991 Nissan Silvia (125 HP).
• 3" -> 2 1/4 inch exhaust system.
• Bluebird Series 3 Bellhousing.
• Skyline 5 Speed (short nosed).
• Datsun 1200 coupe dash.
• Modified Holden V8 Torana tailshaft.
• Original Computer, catalytic convertor.
• Honda ?something? seats.
• Battery relocated to boot, no space in the engine compartment.
• Datsun 1200 ute Diff housing, Bluebird diff centre 3.9 ratio.
• Datsun 180B wagon Rear drums and backing plates.
• Holden Gemini panhard rod (to reduce side-to-side diff movement around corners).
• Home-fabricated surge tank.
• Holden VL Commodore EFI Fuel pump (fitted with old coil resistor to drop voltage to 9v via switch).

This list of modifications have obviously occurred over quite some time, the car has done over 60k miles, with no problems, apart from a standard change of timing belt. This is a great car, and I envisage putting in an intercooled CA18DET in the near future. Predict output to exceed 180 HP. Will be fabricating a new rear suspension system to cope with the increase in ponies. UPDATE. I have almost completed the above modification and predict that it will be on the road in 7 days or so. ie 18/6/97 or so. I'll try and post the pictures soon.
