WHAT IS THIS THING?
This is a scale F-16 cockpit designed for home PC use. It has it's own sound system to create vibration and aircraft sounds from whatever game you are playing. It's much more comfortable than using a desk to play your games on and will reduce fatigue on your wrists and increase game enjoyability. Work started on this project in late 1990, back when flight sims were truely in their infancy.
I am currently selling a plan package for building this very basic F-16 cockpit that I designed following a pretty well received article in Computer Gaming World. The unit is very user friendly and expandable for adding external controls and gadgets, limited only by your imagination and budget.
Thanks Chris Van Lierop and Jody Levesque for linking my site to their fantastic web sites. I will always be happy to link your flight sim site to this one upon request, and put your pictures here as well. Thanks to everyone else who has linked my Hellseat site to your site. I never imagined in 1990 when I was playing "Secret Weapons Of the Luftwaffe" and "Falcon 3.0"
that there would be SO much enthusiasm from others about building a home simulator.
I am probably one of the first people to attempt doing it. It's become clear to me that there are others who are WAY more into this than I ever was, and the craftmanship and detail I have seen, is very impressive. I took a small step and others have taken giant steps to create their own dream simulators. I am just proud to be a small part of it all.
This just goes to prove that we don't have to wait for others to come up with ideas and we can all make affordable simulators that are as enjoyable and rewarding to BUILD as they are to use. This is definitely a new hobby we have created.
I'm happy to say there are numerous squadrons of Hellseats around the world.
I have included several photos of my Hellseats below and including some interesting ones taken during construction. Though it may look complex to build, it probably is no harder than building a model airplane, since that helped me build my Hellseats. I always offer email support when you build your Hellseat, and am happy to take digital pictures if you get in a bind during construction of your pit.

Note side speakers and HOTA controls. Lots of room for expansion here.

Check out how I designed this to break-down into four pieces. No need to worry about this being a "boat in the basement" project. This allows you to get your cockpit into almost any room of the house.

You know you have reached stardom when you appear in Japanese magazines.....
