Athanati's "Radical" Easter Page
Celebrated on April 12, 2009
"Jesus said unto her:  I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live;  And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
Believest thou this?"
~~ John 11: 25-26 ~~

While you visit, listen to Christ the Lord is Risen Today!
Easton's Bible Dictionary defines Easter this way:

Originally a Saxon word (Eostre), denoting a goddess of the Saxons, in honour of whom sacrifices were offered about the time of the Passover.  In the Early English versions this word was frequently used as the translation of the Greek "Pascha" (the Passover).  When the Authorized Version (1611) was formed, the word "Passover" was used in all passages in which this word "Pascha" occurred, except in Acts 12:4.  In the Revised Version the proper word, "Passover," is always used.
SO,
I think that we should change the name of Easter this year.  Instead of wishing friends a
"Happy Easter"
try
"Happy Resurrection Sunday!"
and answer:
"Truly He is Risen!"

Consider giving out
"lambs" instead of eggs and bunnies.
Jesus was our perfect passover sacrifice to atone for our sins.  He is our
PASSOVER LAMB!
Is Easter really about cute bunnies and colored eggs?

Is it a simple innocent holiday?

The TRUTH is so important!
Please realize that even Satan twisted scripture that was out of context and misinterpreted it to justify his actions and thoughts.
Many people will try to tell you that the egg and other Easter symbols are Christian symbols.
Please do not be deceived.
I gathered most of this information from my Encyclopedia programs.
I believe that it is very important to know the history behind our holidays that we observe.
I also believe, because you are my friends, you should know the truth.
Be wise and discerning when you read.  Don't just take my word for it;  check things out and pull out your Bible and check the Scripture references out for yourselves.
We are all accountable for our own actions to the Lord.
WHAT ABOUT EASTER?
What about Easter?  How did this pagan, fertility festival enter the Christian calendar? Most certaly there is mention of Easter eggs in the Scriptures; no mention of bunny rabbits.  Where did they come from?  The facts will surprise you;  here are a few quotations about Easter from Alexander Hislop's famous book The Two Babylons, published by S.W. Partridge & Co., 4 Soho Sq., London (ISBN 07136 0470 0)
What means the term Easter itself?  It is not a Christian name. It bears its Chaldean origin:  Easter is nothing else than Astarte, one of the titles of Beltis, the Queen of Heaven.  In Assysrian monuments this name is found as Ishtar.  The worship of Bel and Astarte was very early introduced into Britain, along with the Druids, priests of the groves. (p. 103)
To conciliate the Pagans to nominal Christianity, Rome took measures to amalgamate Christian and Pagan festivals by skillfully adjusting the calendar - since Passover and pagan Springtime festivals occurred at almost the same time, this was no difficult matter. (p. 105)
The hot cross buns of Good Friday and the dyed eggs of Easter Sunday were used in the worship of the Queen of Heaven as early as the days of Cecrops, the found of Athens - that is 1500 years before the Christian era.  The children gather wood, the fathers kindle the fire, and the women make cakes to the queen of heaven - Astarte. ((Jeremiah 7:18) p. 108))
In ancient times eggs were used in the religious rites of the Egyptians and the Greeks, and were hung up for mystic purposes in their temples.  (p.108)
To be sure, there is nothing wrong with a human tradition - if it does not clash with a commandment  of the Almighty God.  And for sure it is the second commanded that it clashes with, which commands not to make any images, bow down to them or serve them.

The Christian church is guilty of placing the traditions of men above the commandments of God.  The celebrating of Christmas, Easter, Ash-Wednesday, Lent, etc., are all human traditions.
Not one of these festivals was authorized by the Lord God.  They are all spiritual weeds in the Garden of Salvation.  Replacing a divine commandment with a human tradition does not go well with God.
Feeling offended?  Forgive me for telling you the Truth. I just don't want you to be led blindly.
