THE SURVIVAL KNIFE: THE MIGHTY A1
Fallkniven is a suedish company.
This country got a long tradition about knives and the everyday uses of
knives.
They are the prime dealer
of European and American blades in their country.
Some years ago they have
decided to produce their own knives. They have the chance to test and compare
and use and abuse as much as models made by other great companies like
Cold Steel, Spyderco, Kershaw...
Fallkniven means Folding
Knives so naturally and logically their first and their second production
knife is a fixed blade.
The little brother of the
F1 is bigger thicker and mightier!
Meet the A1.
Imagine a bick thick blade
in VG10 and a very confortable handle. Really beautiful lines !
The Beauty and the Beast
!
At first glance I thought
it was a tire iron for T-80 !!!
As you can see the shape
of the A1 is a semi V grind bowie clip point.
It looks much more serious
than my description. Serious, massive and razor sharp. Good morning mister
A1 !
The choice of that steel comes from the many tests made by Fallkniven since 1987 and also of the excellent Spyderco Moran Featherweight. They decided to switch to VG-10. This steel made for cutlery (when ATS34 was made primary for aeronautics) is made in Japan from swedish iron.
The sheath is made of Cordura
and the buckle is large enough for two belts.
When the Beast of War sleeps
in his scabbard, well it's not bulky. The Animal look as big as a Kabar.
Very confortable to carry
vene upside down on the strap.
Now the test. First
my famous cigarette paper test. Hard one !
Then I cut into a phone
book. The cut was straight, deep and clear.
The A1 is the Swedish Army
Knife it desserves a real campknife test, no ? Sooo let's go in my true
domain, the forest. But not everybody forest. Mine is dirty thanks to my
fellow human being.
So you can find all the
trash of the modern world in my forest. Sweet Normandy !
True, there is even old
rust cars in my wood. We used it like target even, or as a test field for
really serious knives.
The A1 is a campknife so
we test it in heavy duty during rainy days. I have cut half burned oak's
trunks.
It takes time but I have
success. TIMBER !
But frankly i wanted to
DESTROY the A1 !
Understand me. I got it for free and I took be proud to break it and show to his conceptor some weaknesses.
Really, it's so massive,
you want to fight and cut and even become frenzy, AMOK! BERZERK!!!
Give me iron bars ! I have
dull part of the edge on iron bars.
I have all destroyed a car's
bonnet by throwing it again and again and again while standing on the roof
of the car.
Then I explosed battledores
Savage !
After destroying (dulling
is not really the word...) the edge, I have resharped it in ten minutes.
It was easy to resharp despite my abuses.
Peter, the A1 daddy told us only the tip could break... LIAR !
OK, if I wanted to really
destroy it, it could be possible, but as a cutting, hammering, choping,
prying tool it's impossible.
CLICK ON THE IMAGES TO GO
TO SWEDEN !
Now the A1 has been designed
as a weapon.
The slashes are powerfull
and the bowie point makes deep thrust.
No way it's an excellent
combat knife.
And it's an great throwing knife ! A real heavy Exocet, explosing battledores and cars bonnet. I don't know if swedish people hunt by throwing their knives but the A1 could be part of their Air Force arsenal !!
For discovering unknown zones
in Congo or in civilian battle zone the A1 is the knife I want with me
on my belt
(especially my custom knives
are smaller and less polyvalent).
The A1 is a mega reliable tool. "Trust Me" is its second name.
So... BRAVO Fallkniven! I really love what I cannot destroy !
Period.
