Taiwan "China Times" Most Popular Singer Awards 7th January, 2000 Taipei
Gigi got more than 15,000 votes here, all sent by hand and not online polling. This was good enough to get her second place, only 50 votes less than the local "King", Ng Pak. Gigi flied there to receive the award, which turned out to be a cute silver doll (haha!) This is Gigi's first Y2K award! she seems much happier in Taiwan because she does not have to face the damned HK media. She did allow our HK crew to interview her even though her company refused at first. : ) very kind of her.

Gigi received a lot of fan support here. She looked and waved at them all the time. She also made hand signs and at one stage, smiled happily and put her fingers on her lips (to silence the fans who were shouting while she was doing an interview). Someone even asked her to give him the bag of blood she had donated. Gigi laughed at that and said the blood is for someone who needs it; and fans should also donate blood to help others...... for the first time on many months, the reports afterwards were mostly positive or/and funny.

"·sÂA" ¦b¤º¦a½æ¤F¤»¥Õª÷¼Æ¦r! that is a strong figure and it sends a "chilling" message to Hong Kong: either we treasure Gigi more or we would lose her to the other Chinese markets (namely China and Taiwan). It is "cold" fact that other Chinese in the world have more brains than those locally (the media and some others)! but to be fair, Gigi's new CD is doing well and there may be more reasonable HKers afterall, ha!
