Speak is Tick's "dog". The Tick discovered Speak in Mexico on the episode "Sidekicks Don't Kiss." Next to the Tick, Speak is my favourite character. Although Speak is a creature that is Latin American in origin, Speak has a clever, even haughty and robust British accent. Speak's voice is provided by one Jess Harnell, who also brought us Sewer Urchin. Speak is also possessed with a wandering left eye!
Speak Episode Guide(all from season 3)
1."Sidekicks Don't Kiss":
The Deertown Aztecs seek to punish Arthur for dating Carmelita Vatos. They
arrange a mid-air marriage between Arthur and "the lowest" creature in the jungle, Speak. A mid-air
collision with The Tick initiates Tick's infatuation with the lovable capybara.
2."Tick vs. Arthur":
The Tick is trying to convince Speak, "a righteous firebrand," to join he and Arthur in
crime fighting. "Let's bark up the right tree together," says Tick. Tick takes Speak out on his first
assignment, fighting Baron Violent. Following the skirmish, Tick takes Speak to the vet where he learns
that Speak is a rodent, and that he has "exema, some worms, and a case of the mange."
3."Tick vs. Europe":
Speak is hung from the ceiling and used to batter Arthur by the Gingerbread Army of
the Breadmaster.
4."Tick vs. Prehistory":
During 'cleaning-day,' Arthur chastises himself when he realizes that he has left
Speak soaking in the kitchen sink all morning. At the end of the episode, Speak is seen snuggling on the
couch with an australopithicine.
5."Tick vs. Education":
While teaching a superhero class to a bunch of amateur heroes in Arthur's
apartment, one of the pupils, Mr. Exciting, harangues Speak to Tick's dismay. "Speak, Whoo! C'mon boy,
Whoo!" Mr. Exciting yells right before he enthusiastically licks Speak. Tick replies, "Mr. Exciting, you're
playing with fire."
