Hey people,After 53hrs on a bus ride from Edmonton to Toronto, then four days of fun and foolery, and then the same bus ride back; my eXcellent Xcross Canada Adventures are now over.
Highlights of my trip were; my bus being surrounded by cop cars at one point, the CKREB Luncheon, winning a Saturday Night Magazine signed by none other than Cal at the CKREB Stakeout, bumping into Dean McDermott on the way to the elevator, the charity auction, star gazing and collecting autographs, getting my picture taken with Dief, Tom Melissis talking to my gala table for more than ten minutes, Kung-Fu Dancing at the Gala Dance because of Double Happiness, impromptu late night discussions in the hallways with strangers, Paul Gross's surprise appearance, discussions with roommates on the differences between Canada & the U.S., and just meeting a bunch of great dusers.
So, I thought I'd share some of my pictures from the CKREB events & CKR related things from RCW 139; most of them didn't turn out too well, but here are some of the better ones. Hope you like.Kirsten
Toronto. CN Tower & The Skydome seen from the Harbour. Yeah, I took these. I didn't even scan them off of a postcard! If your not aware, RCW 139 is the name for a convention that celebrates the Canadian television show Due South, and it has been held for the past four years in Toronto, Canada. RCW 139 stands for a licence plate number which keeps appearing in various Due South episodes. A duser is a nickname for a Due South fan. Callum Keith Rennie (CKR) co-starred in the third/fourth season of Due South as Det. Ray Kowalski. The CKREB referred to is an internet mailing list called the Callum Keith Rennie Estorgen Brigade.

I didn't have time to really go around Toronto to see all of the filming sites, but I did stumbled across a few anyways while I was there. (1) The first picture is of the "Oriole", which was the boat used in the episode "Strange Bedfellows," it was also the boat being offered for the harbour tour for the convention. It's a great tour by the way, I totally recommend it.:) (2) The second picture is of the Pier 4 resturant which I had supper at, little did I know that the first scene from "Strange Bedfellows" where Ray rescues Stella from being shot, was shot in the same spot until I was watching the episode later. (3) The third picture is of the "Canadian Malting Company" building which I accidently saw on the boat tour and yelled out, "That's the building from Mounty On The Bounty, I'm for sure" the one Fraser and Ray jumped off of in the first scene. Went and looked over my tapes again, yep, it's the same place.:) Not the greatest picture though.

(1)(2)Basically the first two shots are a panoramic view of the inside of "The Spotted Dick" where the luncheon was held on Thursday. I'm not going to name everybody 'cause I've got a hole in my bag of marbles and I can't remember everybody's names. But just for interest sake, in the second picture, Tracy, who organized the Luncheon, is on the far end on the right side of the table, and next to her is Anne Monette, Kari Eissinger, and Amy Harrison my rcw roommate. I'm sitting on the left side of the table in the white t-shirt next to Cleo and Clemence who are in the background. (3) Amie who was wonderful enough to take all our pictures. (4) The Reverend Monica Ross reading selections from "Hard Core Road Show." (5) Cleo and Clemence with the their fantastic matching "Champion Spark Plug" t-shirts, who are trying on their little "dream catcher" necklaces that Tracy brought. (6) Finally, the passes/tags for the Luncheon that Tracy made for everyone which were pretty snazzy, and you could even hang them your lanyard.
CKREB Stakeout:
Well, I suck cause I only got one picture of this, but my stupid flash wasn't working at the moment. Hey, I've got a really cheap, crappy camera. What can I say! Anyways, Erin was laughing at me when I was taking this picture of everybody; if you look closely at the tv screen you may be surprised to see a certain body part of a certain someone. I know, I'm soo gutter diving! Monica and Erin organized this little shin-dig, they showed an episode of "My Life As A Dog", then "Last Night", "Hard Core Logo", and into the wee hours of the morning a determined few stayed around to watch "Men With Guns." There was about forty to fifty people taking in the Callum experience when I did a tiny head count. Not bad eh? Just before HCL, Monica began to hand out CKR swag and they had a little draw for five magazines, if I remember Cleo bagged the signed, Vines magazine! And I bagged the signed Saturday Night magazine! That was freaky.:)

Well of course this wasn't all the stuff up for auction, but stuff that struck my fancy cause I'm a freak. (1) Love this picture. That's all I gotta say.:) (2) Silent auction stuff, there's a Shift magazine which was autographed, also a Vines magazine next to it. (3) This is one of my favourite pictures of him, it's autographed as well. (4) The famous signed police badge that went for something over a $1000 dollars. Lucky Kari bagged this one. Really lucky, cause she owns a jacket from last years auction, which happens to be the same jacket Callum is wearing in the picture on the badge. Oooh, can you say sppookyy. (5) Poster of the Due South crew with their faces mixed up. Go look for Callum's facial parts, a hint, the top of his head is on the very left side in the middle. (6) Little picture postcard set, which was for sale in the silent auction; another picture which I love.
