FANS CRY FOR NORMA!
MORE NORMA!
NORMA SHEARER
HOLLYWOOD'S MOST POPULAR STAR

Norma Shearer was Hollywood's brightest star. When she greeted her fans it was always with a large generous smile. No fan she ever met thought her anything less than gracious and kind.
In tribute to Norma's great acting and screen presence Hollywood of yester-year honoured her with one of the first few cement imprints at Sid Grauman's Chinese Movie Theatre, as well as her own star on the Walk of Fame.
Also included in this little pictorial tribute to Norma's wild popularity is a candid photo of the huge lineup waiting to see their star as she arrived for the opening of 'Strange Interlude in 1932

"RIOT BREAKS OUT AT OPENING OF NORMA SHEARER'S LATEST FILM!"

So read the headlines in 1932 as her immense following awaited their star at the premier of 'Strange Interlude.'

Shown above is the crowd that awaited Norma Shearer at the premier.

Shown in the circle is an unfortunate lady who was cought in the middle of the pushing crowd as it mobbed Norma, this woman sustained a broken leg, and lost her glasses.
She was quoted later in the hospital as saying:
"I remember Norma arrived in a white fur cape with brown trim. A woman behind me yelled "its Norma" and the crowd gasped. Then a moment later after the shock dissipated they pushed me forward, my glasses fell off, in the jolt, as everyone tried to see Norma's beauty. I bent down to pick up my glasses and couldn't find them, then I fell and broke my leg. The crowd kept moving forward as Norma came closer. Someone helped me up and I saw her smile and enter the theatre. She had her hair waved back and pulled behind her ears, in the style she wore in "A Free Soul." She was so radiant... I was glad I was able to see her. Norma is my favorite star and when she heard of the incident she sent me a lovely autographed photo which I will always treasure"
