I heard about this show last year when it won the cable access award for 1996 in The Dallas Observer. A couple of weeks later they did an article about the show(I wish I had saved that damn newspaper). About a month or two later I saw it on Frame of Mind, a locally produced PBS show that features the work of independent film and video people from around the area. And just recently I saw it on the public access channel in Denton.
What I saw of it was absolutely astonishing. I had never realized that cable access shows could be that good. The production values are very high on the program and Bobby Jack Pack, Jr. has a very keen sense of composition and edit pacing. The sketches themselves are funny in a very innovative way. I was just completely blown away by it. If he's not getting paid to do the show, he very well should be.
As with a lot of local cable programs I don't know too much about it other than from what I remember in the Observer article last year. It took him about a year to finish the first episode and all of the subsequent episodes have taken about a month to complete. Of course that was back in the summer of '96. Who knows what has happenned since then. In any case, there was an address at the end of the show. I'm going to write to him to find out more about the show.
I saw the show on a Tuesday morning at 11am on Denton Marcus Cable channel 25. Whether that is its regular time slot I don't know. I guess I'll find out this coming Tuesday.
