  • Today we (my 13 and 10 yr old daughters and I) rented 1968 Romeo & Juliet. I wanted to show them how it should really look-- not the 1996 modern version. I believe they now really appreciate the story, not only Leonardo DiCaprio (though they are now also very interested in Leonard Whiting... strange how both Leo's are soooo hot!). Thank you for your web site and, please, try to find some recent photos of Leonard Whiting-- we'd love to see how he looks now and know what he's doing... Vicky, Gretchen (13) & Xandra (10).

  • I want to thank you for making a site on the 1968 verison of Romeo and Juliet. It took me forever to find one! I have only seen this version and the 1996, in school, but I loved the old version. If I had not been in school I would have cried at the end because the music was so moving! Thank you a million times for making this site and keeping me from going insane from not finding one!

    What's NEW: June 27th 1999

  • Added another NEW photo.
  • Moved old news here.
  • I bought the widescreen version of our beloved film, and I must say it's a treat for the crazed R+J fans. You see so much more in this format. The pan-and-scan version cuts away the peripheral (sp?) views, which means that in some scenes you only see one character at a time. The widescreen version takes you back to the theater and gives you a better idea of how Baz Luhrmann intended his film to be seen. In other words, BUY IT! It's probably best viewed on a large screen tv, but my 19-inch did a good job, too. "William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet" is still my favorite film of all time, two-and-a-half years after its release. (I must admit that "Shakespeare In Love" did come close, though.) thanks for listening.

    What's NEW: June 1st 1999

  • About two weeks ago, I ventured to England. I visited Shakespeare's birthplace. I saw the room he was born, furniture within the house and other posessions cherished by William Shakespeare and his family.
  • While in England, I was looking for merchandise related to Romeo and Juliet. The only thing I found was a picture of Leonardo DiCaprio in the 1996 movie during the wedding scene. I will have to frame the picture that I bought for only 1pound.
  • Maria has sent me two new Romeo and Juliet photos and two photos from Leonard Whiting's movie Frankenstein. They are posted in the pictures section.
  • With the success of the movie Shakespeare in Love, I believe I am getting many more visits. Shakespeare is hot in the movies. I believe it all started with Romeo and Juliet 1996, then came out 30th Anniversary rerelease of Romeo and Juliet 1968 on video. Last year's release of Shakespeare in Love and presently A Mid Summer's Night Dream.
  • BTW, I saw Star Wars last weekend. Afterwards, I saw Notting Hill. After being in Notting Hill, England two weeks ago, I really enjoyed this movie. Just about two weeks ago, I was walking around Kensington Palace (former residence of the late Diana, Princess of Wales) and Notting Hill. I noticed some familiar sites in the movie.
