Here's a review of a 28 Days test screening. It's pretty negative, so hopefully they'll make the right changes before the film's released. It does have some minor spoilers. Big thanks to G for sending it to me. For a second, I felt like Harry Knowles...
Sandra portrays an alcoholic who is constantly drinking, she wrecks her sisters wedding, then drives a limo into a house! (it never showed her getting a ticket) Needless to say, she gets thrown into rehab -- blah blah blah. This could have been a GREAT movie had they treated it with compassion and dignity. Instead the alcoholics / addicts were mocked, the treatment center was made to be a joke, and there was a bunch of half ass humor - some of it, a bit mean spirited. If it had been a straight drama, it could have been an emotional, heartwrenching masterpiece. But, nooooooooooo, they had to try and throw comedy in. Yuck. Ruined it for me. It's as if they couldn't decide if they wanted it to be a comedy or a drama. Just as things were getting intense and you were really feeling some emotion - a lame joke would land in your face like a bucket of cold water. There were parts where the addicts were doing monologues and the audience was laughing, and I'm thinking, "Hey, this is serious". But the movie didn't treat it serious, so
why should the audience??
So, I'm VERY disappointed. What a bummer. I adore Sandra, and the rest of the cast was great. And the flashback scenes were cool. But the bottom line is: good idea, terrible execution. As I said, some of it was REALLY great - but "some of it" does not make a movie. And she was just incredible. As always. Some of her best acting ever. She even said the F word a few times and was VERY believable! If they cut some of the lame scenes, it will be an incredible movie.

Yesterday, I gave you a pretty negative test screening review of 28 Days. Well, here is a positive review from Ain't It Cool News. I'll warn you now that it has a few spoilers. The reviewer really liked Sandra and Steve Buscemi's performances, and thought it would make a great date movie.

The European magazine MAX has a pic of Sandra with a horse from 28 Days. It also has a short article that says the role will help Sandra change her "girl next door" image. I added the pic to Page 14. Also, the Austrian movie mag SKIP has a familiar pic from the movie with a short article that mentioned Howard Stern visited the set. Thanks to Lupo for the pic and info!
Empire magazine has an interview with Dominic West of 28 Days. Here's what he says about the movie. Cheers to Claire for the info!
What about your next movie - 28 Days with Sandra Bullock?
'It finished filming in July and it's a funny drama where Sandra is an alcoholic who goes to rehab. I'm her drunk English boyfriend who tried to persuade her not to give up drink and we have a big scene at the beginning where we're drinking and shagging and then she realises she can't do that sort of thing any more. So she dumps me for an all-American sober guy. But I get all the funny lines.
I'd never worked in America on a Hollywood flick like that before with such a big star. The work ethic over there was fascinating - it was so much more than I've been used to. Sandra was very much the star. She's is good because she's in control and she's not paranoid. She knows exactly what she wants and she's very able to get it. The rest of the time she's an incredibly kind and generous person - very good fun. We had a really good time.'

Premiere magazine's special Women in Hollwood issue (Gwyneth Paltrow cover) has a really cool article about Betty Thomas, the director of 28 Days. It's about a day in her life directing the movie. There are a lot of cool things to read about the Sandra Bullock and the movie. One thing it mentions is that "28 Days" is a tentative title, so it might change before it's released. I'd type out the article, but it's super long. Besides, it's definitely worth buying for yourself. Unfortunately, out of all the photos from the set, none of them feature Sandy.

Michael Corcoran in today's Austin American Statesman couldn't get much info on Sandra's New Year's Eve bash. However, Sandra will be on the cover of April's Premiere magazine!...
I was really counting on Sandra Bullock's big bash to fill this space with big bold-faced names, but I haven't been able to find a single person who was there. Since the hostess flew in security and catering from L.A., and had the hired help (including houseband The Scabs) sign nondisclosure agreements, there's almost no chance of leakage. But I did talk to a woman whose friend was there and she said that with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman a couple of no-shows, the biggest star of the night was Bullock's Texas limestone mansion. Asked when the house will be finished (said to be a sore spot with Sandy), builder Benny Daneshjou wouldn't comment beyond saying that things are progressing as planned.
Let's close the books on that one and move onto a Bullock item that can be confirmed. Sweet Sandy will be on the cover of the April issue of Premiere to promote her rehab flick "28 Days." The photos were taken at the old Kreuz barbecue in Lockhart (now called Smitty's) by famed lensman Tony Duran. After the shoot, Bullock took Ben and Greg Bonnet, modeling's "Texas Twins," plus Cliff Lofton of the Acclaim agency to P.F. Chang's for dinner. According to my spy, Lofton came back a few days later with supermodel Stephanie Seymour and others.
Speaking of 28 Days, the German magazine Cinema has a pic of Sandra on the set of the movie. It's from their 2000 movie preview, which I mentioned earlier. Thanks to Tobi, I added the pic to Page 16.

Tonight's Entertainment Tonight debuted the trailer for 28 Days, and it looks excellent! Sandra looked so hot, so cute, so FINE! Thanks to Brian for the info. Good thing I taped it. I'll try to get some pics from it tomorrow. So I guess you can look out for it in theaters as early as this weekend. A good bet would be to possibly see it before Girl Interrupted next week, since they're both Sony movies. By the way, here's the official site for the movie, which was printed on the poster.

The February issue of Glamour magazine has a cool pic of Sandra with Viggo Mortensen in an article about upcoming duos in the movies. I added the pic to Page 16. Here's what it says about them. Thanks to Annette for the pic and info!
Not your typical date movie, but with these two, it's got to be hot. If Bullock can get a rise out of Keanu Reeves on screen, she's got our vote. And in last year's '60's drama 'A Walk on the Moon', Mortensen made a summer of love with Diane Lane.

The current issue of Entertainment Weekly has their Spring movie preview. There's a small pic of Sandra on the cover. Inside, there's a blurb on 28 Days with a cool pic attatched. And in another article about The Tonight Show, there's a pic of Sandra with Jay Leno promoting Speed 2 (I think). Those are the three pics I sdded to Page 16.
Sandra is mentioned a few of times in the March issue of Movieline. There's an interview with 28 Days star Azura Skye, and they asked her if Sandra took her out Salsa dancing...
"Yes. She's an amazing dancer. She rented out a restaurant, brought in a band from Texas, and had a party for the cast and crew. We danced all night." Page 28 has a pic and mentions the old rumors about Sandra playing Wonder Woman.Page 92 also has a pic and mentions Bob Schneider being on the Gun Shy soundtrack. It also says that he's rumored to be on the 28 Days soundtrack too. Thanks to Di for the Movieline info!

In the interview, she talked about how she came about writing both movies, and the changes she made during the process. It contains a few spoilers, including a really major one near the end of the movie. There is also a review of her 28 Days script that includes excerpts from it. There's only one pic of Sandra from the movie, which I added to Page 17.
Since Sandra isn't on the front, here's a small scan of the cover to let you know what to look for. The cover price is $6.95. Thanks to Di for the info!
