MERENGUE Awards for 1998

It's the second anniversary of DJ Tony's Hits of the Year! The year, 1998, many breakthroughs in Merengue: Merengue Callejero, Boricuarengue, Bomba, etc...I've been checking people's interest in clubs, parties, and what's topping the charts in radio, once again! So, like the 1997 Merengue Hits, I decided to put all my research on Los Merenmambos De 1998. This is a compilation of all the songs that were hits during the 1998 year. Some have been big in Puerto Rico, New York, Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia. This list also includes the House Parties across the land! All were danced by everyone, and had a major impact in merengue music. Along with the Song of the Year, I also included the Album of the Year, New Group of the Year, and the #1 in the past years. At this time, this is the list I put together, I may change some songs or move them around in order...since I might of missed a couple of good songs, I will add more songs to the list. So, I hope I picked your favorite, and if I didn't don't worry...todas las canciones si pegan! Can't wait for next year...After the major Hit de La Vaca by Mala Fe and the always popular oldie Ponte En 4 by La Banda Flakka, which released a new CD, Merengue Callejero as well as Boricuarengue con el Pintame artist Elvis Crespo, Karis, Mayombe, Grupo Mania, y mas y mas...Gotta get 'em all soon!...for another Merengazos Del Aņo, for 1999!
