This page is dedicated with admiration and reverence to all of my ancestors who gave up their native languages, costumes and customs, and left their loved ones in villages and towns never to be seen again to make new lives in America.

Family names are: TONIN, ROSTAN, PAVLIC, KOVACIC, OMERZA and PESTOTNIK. These families populate the Alpine country of Slovenia.

Continuing: McINNIS, McINTOSH, DAVIS, LANGFORD, CREEL, ROBERTS, DEARMAN, BRIGMAN, NEWSOM, McCANN and DUNN. The Mc's are Highlanders; others Borderers, Welch and English.

The earliest immigrant was William Newsom arriving on the "George" about August 1635 in James City, Virginia. The latest arrival was Johan Tonin aboard the "Kaiser Wilhelm de Grosse" in 1902. Johan came from a tiny mountain village named Hrusevko to Waukegan, Illinois.

WORKS IN PROGRESS:

1. Cemetery Book with notes and map
2. Civil War Rosters with supplementary material

Both of these contain the names of those who lived in Texas but came from many other states and countries. This has been slow growing paper product but it will be completed especially if someone were to volunteer to dust and clean so that time could be more cheerfully devoted to research and inputting data.
