was born in Lutter, near Mandelsloh, northwest of Hannover, Germany on 23 March 1809. His last name was misspelled on his birth certificate as SCHULZE instead of SCHULTE. His full name was Johann Heinrich SCHULZE.
He came to America in about 1837 and lived in Cincinnati, Ohio where he
worked for the Methodist Book Concern; then moved to Evansville, Vanderburgh county, Indiana; Posey county, Indiana; and eventually bought a farm @1857 near Jamestown, Moniteau County, Missouri.
Two other brothers, one of which was Dietrich Heinrich Wilhelm Schulze, and two sisters came later to America. The oldest brother who stayed in Germany was Johann Friedrich Schulte born 29 Nov. 1805. One sister also remained in Germany. Her name was Sophie Marie Dorothee Schulte.
On Heinrich's 100th birthday celebration in March of 1909, one sister was living in Washington and the other sister was living in Indiana.
One sister in America was Dorothee Schulze, listed along with Heinrich, his wife and daughter in the 1850 Census in Armstrong township, Vanderburgh county, Indiana. I am still searching for more information on her.
Friederike Moll/Moell became Heinrich's wife in 1845. Friederike was also from Germany, then Evansville, Indiana. They had 10 children, one boy died in young manhood, and 4 children died when small.
