Here are some pictures taken in 1998 at the Mountain Meadows Massacre historic site. They are supplied by Allan Varney. Click on them and they get larger. The shots were taken in early July, 1998. The plaques at the Dan Sill Hill site had fallen and these photographs document the repair process.

Alan is a first cousin of Captain Alexander Fancher, five times removed.

The first shot is looking easterly, towards Pinto, Utah. Note the plaques still in place, where they fell.

The shot on the left is looking in a general westerly direction towards the old "seige" site. The shot on the right is looking down from the top of the wall, and generally in an easterly direction. Note the line of caulking near the top of the plaques.

This is a shot of the broken plaque, which is the fifth from the left, out of nine plaques.

Plaques being laid out in the parking lot ready for removal, and repair.

Here are shots where the original monument stood, known as the "seige site." They were taken prior to the new monument placement in September, 1999.
