a true story from Reuters News:
A Brazilian man who went to a clinic to have an aching ear checked ended up having a vasectomy after mistakenly believing that the doctor had called his name.
"He was called by the full name and yet thought it was him. But the strangest thing is that he asked no questions when the doctor started preparations in the area which had so little to do with his ear," Vanessa Guimaraes said.
"He later explained that he thought it was an ear inflammation that got down to his testicles," she added.
So, if you didn't have enough reason to get a hearing aid, NOW YOU DO!

Hello, I'm Emilie Quast, the owner of the Beyond-Hearing Yahoo group, which is the successor to the original Beyond-Hearing listserve. I'd like to invite all the subscribers to the original list and any new subscribers to join the new Beyond-Hearing Yahoo Group.
Beyond-Hearing started as a listserve run by Mimi Clifford (right) on Duke's servers, and it supported people with hearing loss around the world for several years. Over the years, Beyond-Hearing became the best place for anyone interested in hearing loss to share ideas, ask (and answer) questions, or find support from other people who have a hearing loss.
