BALL,COLE,WOOLARD, DEAN, HODGES,BROWN - Need info to connect these families: Nov. 25, 1829 Bathana (Bathena, Betheana) Ball, widow of James Ball, signs a will leaving her estate to Cherry BALL (relationship unknown). She notes in the will that the land is from her husband (James Ball) and that he received the land from his father (John Ball). This will was admin. by James HODGES. I will note here that it appears that James and Bathana had two sons (Major {Mager} and Miles). Miles died abt August 1828 which would stand to reason that his mother (Bathana) would be changing her will in Nov. of that same year. Page 181. Original. Date: 2 Nov 1829. No probate but proved by jury. Cherry Ball, land and plantation where I now live and known as the land which James Ball inherited from his father John Ball. Rhoda COLE, feather bed. Barshabe WOOLLARD, dau. of Simon WOLLARD, bed and furniture. James Hodges and Nathan BROWN, residue of estate. Executors: James Hodges and Nathan Brown. Signed by mark. Witnesses: Hans HARDISON and Jesse DEAN?. Remarks: Also recorded Book B, p. 300. From the book "Beaufort Co., NC Will Abstracts 1720-1868".

CRANDELL,BALL,GRIST - Looking for info that may further connect these families. 1824 N. Crandell dies and Major Ball is purchaser of some of his property. James CRANDELL dies and purchasers of his property are Cherry Ball (This is the first known mention of Cherry Ball and his exact relationship to the Ball family is unclear at this time), James Ball, Major Ball, Miles Ball and M. BALL. Others to purchase property are Crandell, GRIST and several Cherry. We are going to make the assumption this event took place sometime during the 1820's because we know it was before Major died in 1828 and James CRANDELL signed his will in1821. Nov. 1, 1828 Matthias CRANDELL signs a will which is witnessed by Jared CHERRY and Thurse (also spelled Hurst) Ball. I am assuming here that Hurst or Thurse is a male; however, it could be a female and the same person as daughter Thirza noted in Dec. 4, 1821. The names Thirza and Thurse are very close in sound.

WATERS (Warters, Watters) - Seeking ancestry of ISAAC WATERS reported to have been from Beaufort Co NC who appears in Screven/Bulloch County Georgia area just after 1800. He would probably be different from the ISAAC WATERS (Warters, Watters) who was a Rev. War Soldier and different from his son by the same name. The ISAAC WATERS who lived in Georgia may have been the nephew or other relative of the ISAAC WATERS of NC just mentioned, however, the Georgia ISAAC WATERS died in Bulloch County in 1827, while the son ISAAC WATERS ((jr)) died in NC at a later date. This Waters family in Georgia appears to have been very industrious as one looks at Georgia records in Screven and Bulloch Co. This being the case, there may be a good paper trail in Beaufort Co.
