    Very interesting to find such a site. I've been trying to make a family tree for my dad's side but find it very hard to find such types of records in Canada. I've wondered if there were sources we can talk to about getting such information but I have no had any luck. Plus, I do not speak or understand any Polish so that does not make it any easier either.     My Family from Mothers side comes from Memel Lithuana.Then called East Prussia The family name was Von Kikuts and Von Haag.The had an Estate in Memel were they raised Horses Trackaners.During after WW1 they had to leave due to new ruler,or something like that.They my Great-Grandmother,and seveal of her siblings and my Grandmother who was still born in Memel.They moved to Germany in 1930's. From what I understand we come from roialty somewere along the l ne. But that do'es not really mater, would like to know if any family members still alive there,or where my family tree grows from there.The family moved to US in 1950's, some stayed in Germany.Lossing most of tree when Greatgrandmother & Aunt died 1990's Any help would be great.Thanks

    Hi, I am interested in hearing from anybody who is researching a Bielski family tree (Roman catholic). My Great Grandfather was a Martin Bielski who sailed out of Hamburg on the Fritz Reuter in the late 1800s to settle in Taranaki New Zealand. The little I know about him is that he served in the Prussian Army and gave Dietrich Walde (Danzig) as his place o origin. His wife Barbara Brodkofski (who knows if the spelling is correct) gave Supkowski as her home town. I think this is probably Subkowky near Tcziew on the Wistula. Cheers Russell Beal

    Hey, great site. Like everyone, we all want to know a little something about our distant past to get a better sense of who we are. It would sure be interesting (and a great story over drinks) if I knew of some great power/status which my ancestors once held. But SERIOUSLY...I think it highly improbable that so MANY people held "titles" or were such great "leaders" in their commu ities. The times I've spent in Poland visiting have led me to understand that--since my immediate family now is not powerful/famous here in America--then my great ancestors probably weren't any different. Just regular people. Farmers. Laborers... And that's O.K. Still, I'm hoping that someday I'll run into someone who's got some information about what the good 'ole Mroczkowski's were doing a few hundered years ago, and where they originated from.     Interesting site. I've only just found it as I'm new to the net. I am interested in researching the family history. We originate from Galicia, a place called Wasylkowce somewhere south east of Tarnopol. The family estates were taken over during the war and as far as I know no one has reclaimed them and none of the fami y have returned there. We belong to the clan of Abdank and under the name of Kunicki I am the direct inheritor as the eldest son of the eldest son etc. of the family title. I have quite a bit of documentation that establishes a family tree and the line of inheritance including birth and marriage certificates, a description of the extent of the estate and things related. Although have seen drawings of the Abdank crest I have no details of theadditions and alterations that would aply to my particular branch of the clan. I would appreciate advice on and direction to good sources of information for research in this area and advice as to where good detailed maps of the particular area that I am interested can be seen or obtained. Indeed I would be interested to hear from a y other Kunicki family members that belong to the clan.

Although I have traced the family back to 1700 in Bohemia, family stories indicate the Bohemian family, started by two brothers, came from Poland in 1620 and settled in the Petrovice area.     You have done a GREAT job on this site. There isn't all that many sites for Polish genealogy. Still needing lots of research for my Polish heritage. But in the meantime, any help will be appreciated. My ancestors immigrated around the turn of the century, for a few years some lived in NY, but soon my Polish side settled in Bridgeport, CT. Surnames include: KOBIERZYCKI, LESCZYZNSKI(-A), LUKOMSKI(-E), MIHALSKI, MITLASZESKA(-Y) (sp. variations: Miklaszewska), and ZOZENKOSKA(-I) (sp. variations: Ziectowska, Zienciolowski).     Hi Kaj I'm looking for some information about my genealogy. Is there a coat of arms to my last name, or more correctly someone in my familytree. My parents are divorced so there is no direct link to ask.     My mother's maiden name is Malachowska and her family is still in Poland, primarily living in Bydgoszcz.     Hello Kaj I am searching for families of my mother and father who migrated to Australia after 2WW from germany. both my parents were displaced people from Poland. My mother Katarzyna Walczak from Busko Zdroj in Keilce dist. was taken to germany as a forced laborer.     Delighted to see this wonderful site. From far away in the South Pacific Ocean there are Poles here and we have a Polish Genealogical Society to help with research. It is amazing the number of people who do not know that the Germans stole most of the cath lic Church records of baptisms, marriages, burials from northern Poland at the end of the last war. The Communists in Poland said they were all destroyed but there are an amazing collection microfilmed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints (M rmons or LDS) and those looking for history of family must be prepared to do some hard research in those microfilms instead of saying they do not know where to look. There are also in the United States many Polish Genealogical Societies which exist to hel direct people where they should look.     My maternal grandparents, Konstanty and Antoinette(LISTKIEWICZ) PIECHOCINSKI, emigrated to New York sometime around 1890 from Mielec, near Krakow.     This is just a quick update on my last entry. I have some more information on my g.g. grandfather who was born in Rychthal (Reichthal). He was born circa 1854, name Friedrich Wilhelm MIOSGE. If anyone can send (email) any information about any MIOSGES f om this area of PRUSSIA or can point me in the direction of sites that will give e info. specifically for this area at that time (i.e mid to late 1800's) I would be very grateful.     My comments say eternal thanks for publishing your research. I have reason to believe I'm directly related to General JAROSLAW RADWAN ZADLO DABROWSKI, but it is difficult tracing this line of Dabrowscy. After JAROSLAW DABROWSKI died heroically in the Pa is Commune of 1871, the European-wide revulsion was so great JAROSLAW DABROWSKI's two sons were driven to suicide, and his brother to crime in exile. Also, my Great-Grandfather WLADYSLAW DABROWSKI, and my Great-Great-Grandfather KSAWERY DABROWSKI origina ed from Ostroleka in the Mazowsze region of Poland. Jerzy Zdrada in his book "JAROSLAW DABROWSKI: 1836-1871" (Krakow, Wydawnictwo Literackie, 1973), page nine, notes the Dabrowski family originated in Mazowsze, and has been noted in the books of Polish N bility since the XV century. Ostroleka was devastated in World War II, and consequently the Civil Registrar can provide me no records as most prior to 1946 are destroyed. I trust you'll conclude there are some formidable obstacles impeding proving my im ediate family's link to this line of Dabrowscy.     A very interesting homepage! I found last week the excellent made homepage of the Popiels, which you may know, when I was surfing through the internet and just for fun looking up all the occurances of "PELKA". In the Popiel Page I found the story of the s le of a village by the popiels to the pelkas in 1431. So I thought "maybe Pelka is really not a German, but a Polish name". And so I found your homepage, mentioning a certain Judge of Sandomierz called Pelka. Unfortunately I was not able to see or downloa the coat of arms of the Gryf-clan = the seal of Pelka. But my Map of Poland shows that Jurowice is not so far away from Sandomierz, and perhaps my family originates really from that region.     My greatgrandfather came from Russian Poland to the USA in the late 1800's. He originally landed in South America, then went to Texas, and from there, went to New Jersey, where he met and married my greatgrandmother who was from German Poland. They then moved to New Bedford, MA where they settled permanently. From what I can determine, the original name was Jeleniewski, but was changed later to Eleniefsky. If there is anyone who knows anything about the Jeleniewski surname----meaning, origin,etc., and f anyone knows any other information concerning the Jeleniewski families of Russian Poland, I'd appreciate an email.     Excellent page... trying to uncover information about my father's ancestry, he, Aleksander Josef Zarebicki son of Hrabia Jablonowski of Galicia and a daughter of a noble Turkish horse breeder, born outside of the village of Zydaczy on the estate named TUR DY in 1906. Raised by Pualist Monks in hiding from his Turkish relatives on his father's estate until 1910 (his father's death) then by his stepmother Hrabina Jablonowska. Ran away from home as a young teenager with his cousin Stanislaw Mrazek to fight the Bolsheviks under pseudonyms as an OBRONCA LWOWA discharged a corporal. Spent considerable time thereafter in Vienna and Italy, studied Agriculture, managed his stepmothe 's estates. Nominated to the Cavalry Officer's School in Grudziadz by his step-uncle General Stahiewicz whereupon completion assigned to the 16th Pulk of the Polish Cavalry in Bydgoscz. Unwilling to accept his father's surname at the request of his stepmother, he assumed the name Zarebicki and carried it throughout his life. He led the 4th squadron of the 16th Cavalry Regiment into battle in September of 1939 valiantly defending the nor hwestern towns of Grupa and Bukowiec. He was decorated for his action in WWII, unfotunately spending 4 1/2 years in a German Oflag, escaping twice, recaptured both times until liberation by the English in 1945. He served as Allied Military Police Comma der in Neumenster, Germany until 1950 where he met my mother, a young Polish woman, herself a survivor of German internment. He married her and emigrated to the US in 1950. I was born here in 1955.
