In Loving Memory

Never in my wildest imagination did I think that I would be sitting here telling the story of my daughter's death. It is something no parent should have to do. Especially the way she died. She didn't die in a car accident, wasn't terminally ill, she didn't have a heart defect, nor was she accidentally shot. Our daughter was brutally murdered by her boyfriend, who was waiting to kill her.

She had decided to leave him. He and his brother knew it. So that night he and his brother went to the ATM and withdrew all the money so she wouldn't be able to leave. She had gone to get the money and found there wasn't any, so she went back to the house to confront Marty as to where the money was. He got angry and hit her in the mouth. She went to the bathroom to wash up and that is when he started beating her and slamming her around the bathroom. He then picked up a glass vase and hit her in the head, then proceeded to drag her from the bathroom through their bedroom, through the kitchen and into the livingroom where he then strangeled her and beat her somemore. While this was happening, their little girl was there. We are not sure if she witnessed any of this. She was only ten months old at the time. I pray that she didn't see or hear anything because this happpened in the middle of the night.

I often asked Nina why she didn't leave Marty and she would always say "Mom I love him and I want Destini to know her father". Now Destini and her brother will only know her through pictures and stories. I hope and pray that somehow through my story and my daughter's death, that someone who is in a domestic violence situation they will seek help and not have to put their loveones through what we are going through and will for a longtime.

Never again will I be able to hold your hand
And tell you I understand
Never again will I wipe your tears
Never again will I quite your fears
Never again will I hear you call me mother
Never again will we hug each other
But be sure my darling daughter,
Just as from the start and no matter what
You will always be in my heart
