| Brushy Mountain Quilters Guild was founded by a group of Alexander County ladies. Our bylaws were officially adopted November 24, 1986. Our Articles of Incorporation were filed March 21, 1995. We qualified as a Not for Profit Corporation in the State of NC November 20. 1995 and received our Federal exemption July 18, 2000. The work of the Guild is designed to benefit and educate all persons interested in preserving, continuing, and advancing the Art of Quilting. The Guild encourages a high standard of excellence in design and technique in all forms of quilting and promotes the Art of Quilting by teaching and sponsoring exhibits. Membership in BMQG is open to any person with a love of quilting and the desire to learn more about the Art of Quilting; on payment of the required dues. The Guild meets the fourth Monday night of each month at 7:00 pm in the Education Complex of the Hiddenite Center which is located in the heart of Hiddenite, North Carolina. Turn onto Hiddenite Church Street at the caution light - you will see a Hiddenite Center sign at the intersection. Drive north about a tenth of a mile, crossing over the railroad tracks, you will see the Educational Complex on your right. Turn to the right onto Leach Street, then it is just a hop and a skip to the Center's parking lot. New members and visitors are always warmly received and urged to take part in Guild activities. |
