Custom Designed Fabric for Dollhouse Miniatures

Often no commercially available fabric can provide just that right miniature design you dream off.   Over the years I've researched various ways to transfer custom designed digital images to fabric.  Recently several newly introduced textile products have been introduced to the home quilting and craft markets.  These products make it possible for home quilters and craftpersons to transfer custom designs to fabric that will remain soft and washfast.

I discuss several of these methods in my article, "Printer Magic," published in the March 2001 issue of Dollhouse Miniatures pages 56 - 59.

Here are just a few examples of the many miniature items I have custom designed and printed to fabric. All are one inch scale miniatures, and very tiny indeed.

Heirloom Memory Quilt

To the left is an example of a 3 by 3 inch wall hanging memory quilt.  The design is from a family heirloom quilt which I updated to reflect the color scheme used in the miniature setting.  The photo is in jpg format, compressed for the web.  The actual quilt is much nicer quality and is a treasure to view.
On the left is a country bedroom specially designed one of a kind.  The wall hanging is 3 by 3 inches and is a 50 wedding aniversary wall hanging.  Pillows  and cases likewise are designed to color coordinate with the miniature setting.
This photo to the right is a closer view of some of the wall hangings that can be made to replicate family heirlooms in miniature
Here is a close up of some of the specialized throw pillows. Each is just about one inch square.
And... of course, the holidays provide a special time for miniature settings.  This setting features photos of the feline member of the family with her own comfy pillow and her own Christmas Stocking.
